Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could kzbin.infoUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.

For a right hander it is better to have your reel on the left hand side. Look at all the switching of hands you do after a cast. Plus you set the hook with your right arm. Try it. You’ll thank me.

I also fish a pond where 20+ fish over ten have been caught and a couple around 15. I caught my PB there at 13.5 pounds on a popper. It’s an awesome pond, it’s really tough tho there is no numbers in there at all, just big fish. You can fish three days in a row without a bite but when you get one it can be a trophy bass.

There's a very easy way to catch a teener bass. First get Berkley power bait and catch a rainbow trout about 10 to 12 inches long. Then put said trout on a 8/0 hook and let it swim freely around the banks in the early spring during pre spawn and spawn. This is illigal in most states just don't let anyone see. But if you want to remain legal use a big thredfin shad the same way. Live bait beats anything when it comes to catching the older more intelligent bass. Sure you might catch a big one occasionally on lures but I can catch giants all day on live bait. That all said I fish with lures 95% of the time except for spring bass.

@@mountainbikesrules yea different in every state. Bluegills are legal here in Kentucky. But there's just something about a trout that no bass can resist. I only use them in the early spring when they start to make beds. That's when they're the fattest and weigh the most. I've caught a ton over 10lbs the biggest was 14lbs. It was just 8 ounces from the state record but it wouldn't have counted either way because it wasn't a legal catch. But it doesn't make sense how I'm allowed to keep 7 trout but I can't use them as bait. If those 7 trout are mine I should be able to do what I want with them. Just my opinion
