Comment again. Sheepshead are delicious!!! Dad always just fried fish it’s all we knew, until he built a smoker, for pork and smoked mullet. ohh my goodness the fish cooking would change forever, so I never knew different until in the 80’s. It was a journey in learning how delicious fried sheepshead could be more amazing. Anyway it’s excellent!! I was having old guys memories.

Love your content. We target sheepshead in MS @ train bridge in Bay St. Louis….. for everyone you actually see, there’s usually two or three you don’t in that area. I kinda quit worrying about “sight” fishing for them and just started hunting structure w/ most barnacles. Another tip, scrape the barnacles off a post, back up and drop a crab on the spot. BOOM!

Add a half a package of Panchetta to the succotash along with the Kielbasa to kick it up some. Also look around down there for a Polish deli or market, I'm sure there's one around, to get you sausage. So much better that what you can get in Publix. Looked good. Sheepshead are a treat for sure!

What a fun way to fish for sheepies. When fwe would fish for them under bridge pilings we would scrape the barnacles off the bridge with an edger to chum them up. Your succotash recipe is great, I will copy that. You have been hitting the gym Vic as you are ripped.

I saw an old school fisherman once that used his own scaler it was a cut out piece of wood kind of shaped like a paddle but smaller made to size one end wider than the other and through the wide end he had driven several 4 or 5 inch nails, they looked that big like in a square pattern I don't know how the wood didn't split but that scaler worked great as I saw him using it

I’m a big fan of your channel and have been watching you for a long time. I also enjoy Brooks channel a lot. You both have great content and I always appreciate the effort you put into cooking what you catch. I have made several of your recipes with great results so thank you for that. I have to say though that your thumbnails are getting ridiculous and have just turned into clickbait. Your content is too good to stoop to that nonsense. It makes me not want to watch an episode when I see some ridiculous fish photo that doesn’t look anything like the actual fish.

growing up in florida and catching lizards when I was younger, I used one hand to distract them. you can tell when they lock on onto the distracting hand because they will literally turn their head to it. thats when you use the other hand to catch them. worked like a charm. wonder if it'll work on the fiddler crabs

Years back out on Sanibel Island at Ding Darling wildlife preserve,,My wife and I found a spot full of Big Sheepshead!! She caught a massive 1 and the teeth were actually growing outwards like Buck Teeth the fish was huge !!! We also had some docks inside a deep pass in Lovers Key that were loaded with big Sheepshead in the winter time ,,,We would anchor the boat about 5feet off the dock and just cast under it and would catch some Big Sheepshead !!! Actually had hooks broke cause we had to horse them out of the pilings and the fish were so Big they broke the hooks on the Live Bait jig heads we used with shrimp !! I like sheepshead they eat good and I fish for food!!! We always let smaller guys go since they have those ribcages and u don't get as much meat from the smaller keepers ,,,

On holiday in Greece their were crabs 🦀 like that on the rocks they spent more time in the sun than some tourists and they were impossible to catch by had but I really wanted to try them as bait because I knew some local species of fish would have taken them including the big octopus I saw, instead I ended up fishing 🎣 with balls of bread with the locals rig of 4 tiny hooks 2 pushed in the bread 2 exposed and cast it out into the deep harbour and you would catch either 4 20z thin lip mullet or 1 × 5 to 10lb mullet I caught 1000s or small and a few big ones the biggest was 7lb 30z a mega fight on a 1000 drama starter kit rod n reel.

Indeed used to waist hours catching crabs for sheepshead. Then an old timer showed me the cheat code…. Barnacles!!!! 10 minutes at any bridge or piling with a shovel and bucket, I get enough bait and chum to last the entire day. Now the water is so polluted in my area that I won’t eat anything that comes out of the bay. Which is the only reason I am sharing the cheat code

Your sinkermis too close to the hook. Bring it up 14 inches from the hook. Allows the bait to float above the bottom and the sinker hits the bottom first. It creates less, weight on the hook too
