Thank you so much for making this video. I used this exact setup and caught 5 small Blacktip and 1 Shovelhead as well as several other species. I had some difficulty with the Haywire twist but managed to make a few rigs. I was able to use only 1 while I fished for 2 weeks in Belleair Beach, FL near Clearwater Beach. I never had to worry about my line breaking. I did need to put a second bead between the tag and weight swivel. Thanks !!!

Thanks for watching Chris. I can give you some pointers right now. For lures: Any swimbait: Spoolteks, Storm swim baits, DOA Baitbuster etc. Soft plastics: such as DDX, Hogy Plugs: X-raps in size 14 I like the glass ghost color, Olive and sardine blue back colors Jigs: Firstlight go 1oz Tide: you want to be there last two hours of incoming and first two of outgoing, so fish around the high tide mark. I like to fish the beach when the water is stirred up from an East wind, the fish eat better. 2-3ft seas is probably the roughest I would fish in, as it gets hard to work a lure when its rough especially with seaweed. Also when its rougher out I would fish bigger profile baits and baits that submerge such as jigs or swimbait and when its calmer fish a plug.

Great video, clearky one of the better onews I have seen. Thank you. My only suggestion is to show the finished rig at the beginning and at the end. When giving a speech, the old addage of "tell/show them what you are going to do, tell/show them, and then tell/show them what you did." Even consider including a diagram of the way the finished assemblage is put together at the end so people can pause the video to write it down or draw a picture to have when they try to do it on their own later. I have subscribed and am looking forward to watching your other videos

Heading to OBX in few days: recently picked up a Daiwa surf combo, BG5000 reel on a 1002MH 10' rod. Looking to run 65lb braid and run my rig out with my kayak say 100-200yds roughly. This video was very helpful because a) I have not surf fished since I was kid b) I have never hooked into a big fish from the beach, let alone a shark c) there are so many different approaches when it comes to fishing one can loose their mind.

Hi Viktor and Landshark Fishing community! For a newly addicted surf fisherman and subscriber from the midwest your videos are extremely informative and inspiring! With the intent of fishing small sharks from the beach (4-6ft) I've purchased the largest saltwater spinning reel that I can currently afford and have paired it with an 11' rod rated for 20-40lb line and 3-8oz lures. Based on the length and speed of runs on your videos I'm concerned about line capacity. The stated reel capacity for mono is 20lb: 400 yd, 25lb: 290 yd, 30lb: 220 yd. In the interest of boosting my yardage capacity I am planning on a backing of 30-40lb braid with a 130 yd topshot of 30lb mono.If my calculations are correct this should give me a total spool of approximately over 300 yds. I plan on tipping with a 4-6 ft 80-100lb mono leader and a wire rig using #12 single strand per your excellent video. I like the working end of the mainline being mono for it's shock absorbing stretch and abrasion resistance since it'll be in contact with the sand while the bait is on the bottom. Regarding my anticipated set up I have the following questions: 1) Would you opt for lighter line and higher yardage capacity? 2) I plan on marrying the topshot to the braid backing via a blood knot or a double uni-knot. Is one knot preferable over the other for this application? And is there any issue with either knot "flowing" through the guides under the tension of a hook up? 3) The same question applies to my mainline/leader connection: If using a 6' leader of 80-100lb mono w/wire terminus will a blood knot or double uni flow through the guides for casting? 4) Finally, on the shark rig video a heavy mono leader of 4' is recommended. I've noted on other videos that the heavy mono leader should be at least as long as the fish you're targeting, so if 6' blacktips are a potential target should the leader length be pushed out to 6' to help avoid "tail cut offs"? Thanks Viktor and Landshark Fishing Nation for any thoughts and advice!

I am pretty new to shark fishing. I have caught a handful in the 6’ range. I have been fishing 65lb braid directly to a 3-4’ wire leader. Is that an issue? Would a section of mono and a shorter wire leader be an advantag? If so why? Just trying to learn. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Actually that's how I found your videos, trying to learn all I can about surf casting. I'm 34 and have fished all my life but surf casting hasn't been one type of fishing I ever got into till now. But I'm trying to figure out even after the mullet run is over if fishing for shark and or bigger fish is still good here. I kinda got into the surf casting a little late as you can tell. not many weeks left. Thanks

Hey man, I've been following your channel for a while. I really dig what you do and greatly appreciate you sharing all your knowledge in all your videos. I have two questions, hope you can answer when you get a chance. Based on your experience, what is the best time to fish for shark during the summer? Would it be during day time or night time? Also, would you consider a 13 ft kayak (old town predator) to be appropriate for bait depletion? Ive kayaked the surf several times before with lighter kayaks (I've flipped once) and not sure how a heavier and lenghtier yak would behave. Thanks a lot for what you do Victor. Btw, I have a reggae/surf rock band called "Los Rude Waves". We have a couple of youtube videos and free downloads on bandcamp. If you would hear any tune you might like for background music on one of your videos, it would be an honor.

+Edgar Valles Ill check out your band! Thank for that info. Honestly I have a kayak that fills with water every time I go out in it(no plug) so just use one that floats lol. Don't overthink it, just use one you can handle easily. I like nighttime much better than daytime, In S. Florida you can't even fish during the day south of St. Lucie tbh. You can certainly fish daylight but afternoons and night are best
