I just watched the Alaska Halibut C, C, and Cook, prior to this video. I was sooooo happy to see how wonderful the trip went for you and yours... The cook 'n' eat with family and friends was the perfect demonstration of the Best Things In Life... Then.., I anxiously awaited the Ling Cod C, C, and Cook. I was hoping that you would catch a female. They have a translucent Emerald Green Flesh! It's amazing and shocking the first time you see it.., (Green Fish and Ham..! But then, it turns white when cooked) I had to smile when everyone agreed that Ling Cod tasted better than Halibut. That was the surprise I was waiting for! I chuckled when you were leary because of the "slimy" first impression. They are The Best. Period. I think that's why they've been over fished in the West Coast waters... They were one of the first species to be nearly wiped out in the Lower 48 waters. There used to be an entire industry built around Ling Cod commercial fishing... Because!!! 🎶 "They're The Best That's Ever Been. 🎶 And! They're still doing well in Alaska's waters. We can only hope and pray that limits and regulations can allow them to recover, here in the Pacific North West waters... 🙏 Thanks again for the trip down memory lane. You --- DO --- have the best job, BTW. Happy for you. ☺️

Here in NW Montana we have fresh water ling cod in our reservoir. But when I went to fish for King crab in the Bering sea the first thing we did was rig ten pots for cod ,,we caught 10,000 pounds of cod just to use for bait with a mix of herring and cigar minnow. God bless my young friend Nick Mcglashin. RIP. Nice video guys

I’ve had lingcod and halibut side by side years ago in Alaska fresh off a charter boat. My friend prepared it with a basic recipe that was a bake with salt, pepper and lemon. Hands down lingcod is the best tasting fish in Alaska. Halibut and salmon are both good. But… Lingcod is more flavorful and has a natural oil in the meat similar to blackcod that makes it melt in your mouth with 0 aftertaste. My favorite fish hands down!!
@steez57692 жыл бұрын
Also I think cod is better battered and deep fried whereas halibut is better baked or grilled.

Try some Chinese style steamed fish. Fish in a foil pan sesame oil soy sauce Cilantro N ginger Green onions Bake at 350 degrees for 25 min Heat peanut oil while it cooks Add more cilantro n green onions n fresh sliced ginger for the green flavor N finally hit all that w the hot peanut oil. Serve over hot sticky rice or potatoes👌🏾👌🏾 The peanut oil brings out all the green flavors n adds a nice sizzle for everyone eating it. I’ve cooked it for a lot of friends in hawaii n recently too it to Oregon n did it w rock fish n ling cod!! Definitely a good dish if you love greens n ginger Would love to seen you guys try something amazing w a cold water white meat fish meat for this style of cooking. A lot of time we cook the fish whole if it’s the right size for the pan🤙🏾🤙🏾
@MrOpihi8083 жыл бұрын
Cilantro n Green onions should be about 2 bunches each maybe three bunch of cilantro if you like the taste. Load it n you’ll love it…but only if you like the taste of cilantro, green onions, n ginger. Made this for a lot of my friends in oregon n they loved it. The flaky white meat fish handles all these flavors n ingredients very well. I forgot to say cover the fish with foil to steam it. Give it a try n shout me out if it is as good as we think it is👌🏾🤙🏾

Lol, still recall the first three foot lingcod, to come into the boat. Fishing for sole/rockfish on the bottom and my buddy was drifting a herring, half up, in the water column. Expecting a salmon it was quite comical when two of us recoiled to the bow while he was yelling "net it". Certainly a prime eating fish and fun to catch.

Ling cod baked or sauteed is awesome. I prefer eating halibut battered and fried. Another great eating white flaky fish is sable fish, also known as black cod. They are much smaller, more like the smaller ling cod you caught. I would never have thought to cook a fish in a sweet soy type marinate to be served over curry potatoes, might have to try it some time. Looked great!

Victor my dude here's the Strat on lingcod. To clean one take a knife with the fish on its stomach Ram it through the head and nail it to the dock. Hunting knife works best. Wring the neck like a deer leg just cutting through the skin slightly deep complete circle grab some pliers and pulled the skin off like taking the pants off of a bullfrog. Then fillet total game changer.
