"I don't have a sky is falling mentality." Proceeds to sell the truck. What's funny is that it took this massive engine recall for people wake up to how crappy this truck is, even though the truck is riddled with quality control issues, poor assemly, and flawed design elements. I get it, it's hard to swallow your pride when you spend over $60k on a POS.

That’s just it, people want the latest and greatest even when it stacks up poorly to the previous gen… unreliable engine, marginally better fuel economy, marginally better power, but loses reliability, ergonomics (turn radius, tow hooks, outward visibility, no bench seat option, no way to step into the bed with tailgate open, and on and on and on)
@agentstevehaines9164
@agentstevehaines9164 6 ай бұрын
The reason the internet is blowing up over this is because reliability/durability is really the only thing Toyota gives you. Buying a Toyota means getting old tech, underpowered low efficiency engines, middle of the road materials and build, with very little flare. Very much the opposite of modern or luxury, but they Just. Keep. Going. If customers wanted a bunch of cutting edge stuff that is basically useless, in a vehicle with constant breakdowns and recalls, they would buy an f150😂

I know there are complaints of fit and finish, but mine was honestly rock solid through and through. It was efficient and powerful too. If they can fix this main bearing issue, they should be back on track. But, this definitely hurts their reputation. There is no way people are going to forget about this issue and even if this engine is proven reliable years from now, people will be hesitant about it.

This is exactly what I think of Toyota. I wouldn't even dream to buy this generation of Toyotas turbo engines, 4 or 6 cylinder.... They're lying about debris in the block, this is in my opinion bad design...

@@ThomperBeThompin as a person who could honestly afford the new one and was waiting for it to come out, u can’t honestly say to urself it’s worth the premium price tag over the 2.5 gen … ungrade the 2.5 gen head unit and u have instantly a better “truck”…. If ur going for an suv type vehicle that is not meant for abuse and u have to worry about getting ur nicely painted corner bumper scratched in the parking lot then new gen is for u… everybody just likes the newest model, but if you don’t think like an emotional woman and you consider things objectively the new model is a worse truck

Got rid of my 2023 on memorial weekend for a 4Runner, just a week before they dropped the bomb. I’ve never been more stressed out owning a vehicle in my life. But that part of my life is over. Won’t get near one, unless they fix all their issues, but again how can you trust Toyota with the Tundra fiasco. 22,23,24 will forever loose their value. In my area dealership’s trade in on these are more than 10k less than the Blue Book just a month ago. If GM, Ford, or Ram, are giving you that much to make that trade it should tell you a lot about what you are buying. Honestly, I looked at a GMC Sierra Denali w/ LZ0 diesel before I bought the 22 Tundra 1794 but those GMC seats were awful. I will continue to do 5K oil changes with oil analysis to keep an eye on it. So far so good, no unusual wear based on analysis.

I have say model 2023 limited zero problems drives like a Lexus so smooth with the engine problems. Toyota is a problem solving company that’s their motto. They want to know why it’s failed to make it better. They don’t scrap the engine and start over. Like those two other companies out there there what engine problems and what did they do? They scrap the engine and start with another type of engine and they’re still having failure engines. That’s the difference difference with a Japanese company. They fix problems their problem, solving company.

The Tundra wasn't the only Toyota product with problems in the past few years. The Camry since 2018. The third gen Tacoma. Toyota lying about crash results. It seems like Toyota is dropping the ball a lot lately. The first gen Tundra had minor problems that were cheap to fix. For the price of a engine in the new Tundra you could have bought a fully loaded first gen truck with extra bling. You could also fix the rest of them. Then there's the price.

More like ASSEMBLE an engine than REBUILD an engine. Dealer's Service Departments don't really REBUILD ANYTHING ANYMORE. Labor costs, spare parts availability & down-time preclude that. We used to "rebuild" starter motors & generators/alternators. Now, you canNOT buy a starter motor drive, or brush set, or alternator rectifier bridge separately...just not available. Plus the labor costs...I retired in 2007, flat-rate labor per hour back then was $155. No way, no how.

All good in the hood. Seriously, I think our back and forth was a good representation of both the ridiculous nature of this recall and the seriousness of it. For those impacted, it could potentially be a headache and it certainly reduces people's faith in the company. I took a chance on it and, even though my engine was fine, I decided to jump ship. Remember the sudden unintended acceleration problems when Toyota changed from a cable to an electronic signal. My 2007 Toyota Tundra was recalled for this issue in 2010 and the accelerator was replaced. The Toyota dealership assured me this was no longer an issue when the new accelerator was installed. They lied. This happened to my wife in our driveway in February, 2023. She had just started her trip when it happened. The truck went from 0 to 42.3 mph in less than five seconds. She was headed toward an electrical transformer and turned into our yard to keep from being electrocuted. Because she had just started her trip she had not yet buckled her seatbelt and suffered three fractured vertebrae when the truck crashed into a tree. The trucks black box along with photo evidence show the truck's rear wheels bounced up and about eight yards to the right of its original path. When I reported the accident to Toyota their engineers claimed my wife pressed the accelerator instead of the brake and was the cause of the accident. In order for their claim to be true my wife would have had to continue pressing on the accelerator after the crash as the rear wheels continued to spin and even dug into the ground after the truck's wheels touched the ground again after being completely stopped by the tree. My wife's injuries were caused by the base of the rear view mirror in the center of the front windshield and she sustained bruises on her right thigh from the center console and her right hand from hitting the shifter located in front of the console. In essence, the Toyota engineers are claiming a 74 year old woman has the strength to still be pressing on the truck's accelerator after coming to a complete stop at 42.3 MPH without a seatbelt. The airbag forcer her even further to the right because her seatbelt was not fastened. Even more disturbing is the fact that Toyota was fined $1.2 billion in 2014 for failing to repair this hazard by the DOJ. Our NHTSA refused to even investigate the crash when it was reported. I actually left the truck in my yard for ten months in hopes there would be an investigation. And worst of all, I attended a funeral for my first cousin who was killed in a one car accident in 2018. It just so happens he was driving a 2011 Toyota Tundra when he was killed. My family thought he must have suffered a medical emergency and I never dreamed it could have been sudden unintended acceleration as Toyota had assured me that this issue had been corrected in 2010. In hindsight, the fact that my cousin had been a police officer for over 25 years when he was killed makes it much more likely he was driving at 80+ MPH because of sudden unintended acceleration and not due to a medical emergency. Do what you want with your Toyota Tundra but rest assured if you or a family member are injured or killed by your truck Toyota will not take responsibility for their injuries or death. Plus, our own federal government is way more concerned with corporate profits than they are with the safety of the American public. I spent thirteen months in Vietnam as a combat Marine and it saddens me to see how corrupt our country has become.

in all seriousness, i’m with you on this one. i work for toyota HQ in plano TX and staying away from these turbo engines on tundra, taco, 4Runner, land cruiser…basically any truck/SUV. i’m not convinced smaller displacement turbos on truck and SUVs a good thing long term. you not mad are you?
