You are correct sir. My 2022 Gen3 Tundra blew up at 28,000 miles. They finally put a recall out for over hundred thousand trucks due to defective engine blocks. Toyota is trying to cover it up by saying it’s debris in the engine block but that’s a bunch of BS. The 2022, 2023 and 2024s are still failing. This includes the Lexus SUV that’s made in Japan with Japan made engine blocks, go figure. Stay away from the sequoia too, it has the same defective engine.

It's been a flawless vehicle just like my previous, 2011 4Runner. I've gotten my daughter and grand daughter Corollas and Camrys. It's a shame what has happened to the Toyota brand. Besides the engine downsizing they are making them in Mexico. I'll stick with my 2018. I hear they are also putting this four cylinder turbo engine in the next generation 4Runner :( I was looking at the new Land Cruiser but the cost (71K+) and it's engine stopped my interest. It looks like I'll have to check out Nissan (Datsun) when I'm in the market again. At least Nissan still offers a V-6 without a turbo. Thanks for your video Mo. :)

I picked up a 2003 Tundra 2yrs ago for $5,000 with 170k miles. Still driving it. I am very disappointed with the newer Toyota trucks after about 2010 because I can't afford them. I am always on the lookout for a deal on the older models. Wish they would get it together. They have priced themselves out of the market. I don't think it's a debri issue with the engines. It's an engineering issue. Turbocharged engines a notoriously hard on the crank and rod bearings, plus throw in a lack of sufficient lubrication to the bearings.

The ONLY two good things about the new Tacoma are that it FINALLY got the improvements that the EVERY Nissan Frontier has had for 20 years already (since the 2005 MY), namely: 1) A rugged FULLY-BOXED ladder frame, and 2) Rear DISC BRAKES. No more cheap-ass weak open C-channel rust-prone flexy frames and cheap-ass inferior drum brakes of the 1st, 2nd & 3rd generation Tacos! Yay! I can't say anything positive about the turbo 4's longevity. Too bad for Taco buyers. Nissan still holding the torch with their tried and true V6, which revs all the way up to 7,000 RPM...something any Taco can only dream of....😢😮

Thanks Deb and Mo, I wouldn’t drop $50k on a Tacoma or any vehicle, I and many people simply can’t afford it. The turbo worries me since it’s unproven right now. The back seat room is tight and not enough space, they should have made the back seat 1/2 or an option, I’d rather have it empty for storage or only 1/2 seat. But yeah the Tacoma is a disappointment, it’s price is too high, I’m not sold on the turbo 4 since it is more maintenance and it’s reliability and longevity is questionable and the back seat doesn’t work for me. We’ll see what Toyota does about both trucks in the next few years, Toyota has a major problem right now. I wouldn’t buy either one of them. I hope they’re listening.

Toyota has lost their marbles for sure. Went from having a couple of the best trucks on the market to having a couple of the most overpriced trucks on the market and with the Tundra engine issues unreliable trucks also. Most truck buyers would not buy the turbo powertrain if given the choice. With Toyota it is the only choice. Nissan Frontier will be the be big winner and can thank Toyota for voluntarily deserting the top spot by making an incredibly stupid blunder. I was considering a Toyota but I do my research.... no way!!!!! Had the market locked and they got greedy and lost their rep. They have never been the best looking and still aren't it was the reliability and affordability that made them appealing.

I wouldn’t buy a GM either. They are knocking and blowing up as well. That active fuel management is trashing those GM engines. I’ll hold on to my 2023 4Runner.

We’ll see the 2024 are not supposed to have any problems. There was debris left in the 2022s and 2023. I love my tundra. It is so powerful so smooth so quiet I got my limited edition 4 x 4 for $50,000 discounted with tax 55 love it

Had my 22 Tundra for 38,000 miles so far. No issues yet. Hopefully mine is not affected.

X Series is a Southeast Toyota product and not offered by Toyota. For those that don't know Southeast Toyota is a private distributor with rights to distribute Toyotas to certain Southern states. They essentially have a monopoly on the market in those states.

Love my new Tundra. Far better than the Denali I traded in.

Toyota shoukd have offered the 5.7 as an option. Would have sold a ton with the new truck. Just sayin So glad I bought my 2021. Love that truck.

To me, Toyota lost the storyline when they made their truck hybrid powertrains for power and not gas efficiency. Rav4 hybrid/ PHEV are more powerful and fuel efficient than the ICE version. Why not the trucks?

They have been making turbos for over 40 years. Change is often received like this. Give it time

I rather go with a ford 450 diesel. Ford is king of trucks.
