Yes this is the malling nala. A very infamous area of the spiti valley roadtrip. Most amount of landslides and rockfall happen here. Huge traffic jams. This is also a mountain pass actually at about 3800+m. Crazyyy place.

I saw that in the Himalayas, along the Karakorum highway. A US lady died due to massive rockfalls, and several people were injured. When it came to reopen the "highway", a bulldozer with no cabin started the job. But, the rockfalls were so frequent, that the driver had to jump out of his machine and run for safety. After a little while the bulldozer was entombed in thousands of tons of rock. Il may still be there.

To get to the other side - for life and living in other words - a detour is probably on the order of 100s of miles - and food and goods and people must pass in both directions.

it's not a landslide, it's a construction project. I haven't seen a bulldozer without roll cage since I was a little kid back the 1960's. Looks like maybe half the workers don't have hard hats. I guess safety is NOT paramount.

Many mountain villages are totally dependent on these treacherous roads. These are the risks of living in landslide areas. It's their way of life.... yes, precarious.

People where they have had floods, landslides and now blasting always stand very close and then try to run just before it gets to them. I have seen several videos where running didn’t work. Not very smart.

I feel sad for these folks. It literally is a dangerous job. These people in their way are just like us except in our western countries we'd never be allowed to do the things they do. Not only is the work impossibly dangerous, but they let members of the public take a chance it will all come crashing down on them while they scurry through?
