I’m in Port Douglas we’ve been without fresh water for two days now. Our wee community will struggle to get back from this, the government should make it a duty free zone for tourists in the coming months to encourage tourists back

Is Karanda and Gillies still open?

The shire of douglas should be absolutely ashamed. Council rates are huge up here and what do we get in return. 3 months later and for every 1 person actually repairing the roads there are 10 traffic controllers stopping, delaying and frustrating drivers. There is no progress. Where are the resources. Why is it taking so long. The cyclone was a disaster but the response is worse.

Wish the lovely young lady would get some facts. Cairns to Pt Douglas is accessible by trucks up to 40 tonnes via the range roads . Albeit a couple of hours extra. I live above Pt Douglas and thank God had minimal damage but will never see this event again. Scared but spared. Please don't sensatialise . My friends who have lost a lot I pain for. Keep the Politicians away

So first they said there was no way to get from Cairns to Port Douglas, well how did I get in then? Then nearly at the end of the interview he mentions but you can go up through the Atherton Tableland's albeit with additional couple hours travel time, so you CAN get from Cairns to Port Douglas! I wish they would just say the important stuff upfront and then they can small talk the rest of the report. Misleading. Then he said but it's unlikely people will want to travel a few extra hours to get there....well if that's the only way in and you need to get there you are going to just travel the extra few hours aren't you?!

The Sky News comments section seems to be flooded with individuals who are promoting themselves, rather than responding to the content. I do respect the fact that Sky News videos are open to comment, unlike the majority of mainstream media, where they exist in a bubble of their own making. Is there a way we can weed out spammers, without intrusive moderation on this platform?

Those promoters you are referring to, also popup on other channels as well. I share your distaste with those useless comments. Well said about the free to air channels that live in a bubble.
