I present the Landyachtz Tugboat thorough review. I primarily compare it to its little brother the dinghy. The dinghy was perfect in my opinion so when Landyachtz Team Manager Billy "Bones" Meiners gave me the opportunity to test out the Tugboat I couldnt resist. its a bit larger in every way but still behaves in the same agile manne.

These boards are great alternatives to step up from penny boards or nickel boards. They have much more grip and the decks don't flex so you can ride harder.

It is also perfect for traveling as it fits in the overhead on most planes perfectly.One piece of advice though....I dig your "keep it real" catchphrase at the end of your video; I think if you were to headbutt a cinderblock into tiny pieces after saying your catchphrase, you would really drive the point home better. maybe also challenge Hulk Hogan at the end of every video as well? Thank you Mike I really appreciate that. That's funny. I understand what you mean. You used to skate before correct? Just start slow in your driveway or on the sidewalk in front of your place and most importantly when you're riding look for those large cracks in the sidewalk that could stop your wheels or large Pebbles. As adults when we fall it's much harder to catch ourselves. By the way I also did a review of the dinghy itself feel free to check that one out and also

Raychristofer Hi Ray! I currently own the Dinghy and I love it. But I'm a big guy too and I'd like to switch to the Tugboat to have a little bit more room for my feet. On the other side I'd really like to keep the bigger wheels.... I like riding a looser setup, so wheelbite could be a problem for me with the Tugboat. Do you think it would be overkill in terms of riding height if I added some spacers, to make room for bigger wheels and looser trucks?
@Raychristofer
@Raychristofer 6 жыл бұрын
deki mat Deki I had the same problem but I figured out how to use the dingy Wheels on the tugboat. The dinghy wheels are offset so I flip them completely around and put them on backwards on the trucks which makes them a little bit more inset. Only in extreme situations where I stand on the edge of the board I get some bite in the back. But to answer your question yes you can probably add 1/4 inch riser. It's one of those things you have to experiment with. I can't believe I forgot to mention it but this is one of the only tugboats that has the smaller Wheels if you look in the catalog you'll notice the other versions have the larger 63 mm Wheels. In an interview they said the smaller Wheel versions are best for skating bowls where the wheel will clear the coping better.

FrostyAvenger you're welcome and I'm glad it helped. Actually when I brought my first dingy I realize who ever assembled it tighten the bolts too much on three of the wheels. Hello Sandra. Dinghy all the way. Click my Amazon Link and type in "dinghy handstand" that is a newer model with wider trucks. Strange thing is when riding you don't notice the narrow trucks. Also I didn't realize this is the only tugboat model with the smaller skate wheels, all other tugs have 63mm.

that setups is good for old school tricks, but if you want to go bigger on the wheel size place the angle riser in the back (is not big deal at all unless you bomb serious hills) and place a 12 degree angle riser in the front, it would turn as hell becoming very manouvrable, on a dinghy size with this risers I use even 70mm wheels, I use it to film and push very fast.

Push off one time slow and make sure your feet are in the middle of the board if not you'll find yourself turning in One Direction or the other. You may feel weird at first but keep your knees bent and stay low so if you fall you don't drop from too high. @@Raychristofer I used to ride a longboard, it was a nice board it rode nice, then it got stolen at my school ( 5 years ago). Then I bought some other boards, like skate board with 14 wheels, so it could feel like a snowboard, that too got stolen in my parking lot. And I mean I got a lil bit into rip sticks ( liked the feel of it). And I just kinda stopped skating, and I want to get back into it, so I am looking for what to get. Short answer nothing currently

Great video! I have the smallest sized penny board right now but find that I get the death wobbles too often and stop suddenly on pebbles too much to be able to ride it to and from class on campus without almost eating it. I'm 5'9 and my feet are size 10 womens so I am looking for something more stable and durable for curbs, sidewalks, and tiled/brick roads. Would the tugboat be a good option as I already have a smaller board or is the dingy more stable in terms of not feeling every crack or bump? Thanks!

Hello thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment. Brick tiled roads that's a tough one I would almost recommend something larger than the 63 mm Wheels the dinghy comes with. I would say get the largest wheel you can for the size board you're looking for. Probably go to a Zumiez or a Ron Jon Surf Shop at a mall near you and you can get a better feel. Sorry about the rocks or Pebbles that's one of the worst feelings to suddenly stop and fall

Maybe you're talking about the wheels as if they can't be changed because you're reviewing the complete only as Landyachtz sent it, but in case you don't know, you can add taller risers to the board so you can accommodate bigger wheels if you want a smoother ride on rough terrain.

oh yeah they come pre assembled. I suggest buying a skate tool at some point though to make adjustments. If you loosen the truck bolts ilthe board will turn easier and looser, more responsive but if you tighten them it gets stiffer, harder to turn but easier to balance on and more stable. Front foot above the bolts and the only time you put your back foot on the tail is when you need to lighten the front going over cracks or things that can jam the wheel. Just cruising keep your back foot in front of the tail so you don't accidentally wheelie. In time you will develop your own feeling for it. Hello how are you? Honestly there's no perfect one board, it's important to have both experiences if you can afford both. I prefer the dinghy but I ride long boards also. It's like different music for different moods. Let me know what you choose

You're right though a helmet can save a concussion. Do yourself a favor if you go to a skate park try not to fuss at the kids not doing the right thing it might not turn out so pretty LOL, thanks for checking it out

What's u my man thanks so much. You'll do fine since you already have the fundamentals of balance. I've always been kind of scared to try fast electric longboards because I can only imagine hitting a rock at speed would be catastrophic lol. Let me know how the schooner goes. I also did a review of the dinghy versus the penny nickel feel free to check that out if you like, it's crazy that this is a photography channel but that particular video hit over 100,000 views eclipsing everything else on my channel lol

Why would my dinghy come with 60mm wheels when it says 63MM online?
@Raychristofer
@Raychristofer 3 жыл бұрын
Hello that's something I noticed that they make different models of dingies with different wheel sizes. They say the smarter wheel is better for skate parks and going over copings. But if the model you bought online is the same one you got in the mail with a different size wheel that's a problem, what website did you buy it from and I would reach out to the company quickly and ask them to send you a return label so they can send you the proper size wheel and you could return the others. Let me know how it goes you're the first person I heard who experienced that

@Raychristofer
@Raychristofer 4 жыл бұрын
Hello yes definately it would. the reflexes to learn skating are the same no matter board you ride. I might even recommend you trying a long board with larger diameter wheels. if you get a landyachtz look at the specs to make sure its the 63mm wheels as many use the smaller 60mm which doesnt run over cracks as well

Word up Joseph what's up and thanks for stopping by. About a year before this I did a review comparing my dinghy and Penny Nickel board. I emailed Landyachtz and ask them could I collaborate with them but when they saw how few views that video got they said they don't really do that. About nine months later that dinghy video had to reached 18,000 views and I reached out to them again and the team manager was impressed and he told me I could choose any board from their catalog so that's how I got the tugboat. This tug boat video is extremely popular as well but unfortunately when I emailed them back a few times I haven't gotten a response. My advice to you is if you want to approach companies it's make sure you have a solid body of work first so review the board gear that you have as best you can but honestly there's not a lot of skate companies I've been able to find to hook me up like this

If you want bigger wheels then I would suggest putting riser pads on the underneath of the trucks which will give more area in between the deck and the trucks :)

Bart De Vuyst hello Bart yes I did see it in the 2018 catalog. Man it's about 5 different boards I wanted to try and they gave me the option of choosing 1 to make this review about which is cool as well seeing how I'm not Ryan Sheckler lol. One thing I find interesting is even though skateboarding has been out so many decades and they've tried many different Technologies the original truck and basic design has remained the same. I'm even tried the original spring trucks and I really don't like the way they behave. What do you ride?
