👍 💕 🎹 🎤 Beautiful duet of one of my favorite songs that has personal, fond memories, and a real positive connection for me. I’m going on 70 now and was born and raised in a NJ suburb about a 45 min. drive from midtown Manhattan. I went to a university there and then also worked in the downtown, financial district till my mid 30’s when I decided to work from NJ. Back in those days, it was safe and as a young, single female, I remember experiencing almost EVERYTHING in the words of this song, and the lyrics are actually very true in the way they ‘speak’ of the various people, places, activities, scenes, etc. Till now, I had always listened to Alecia Keys sing it, but now I actually prefer this ‘cover’ with Lang Lang playing the 🎹 and Andra singing the lyrics! *** IDK if anyone is going to see/read this whole comment, or even care about it if they do, but I just wanted to ‘share’ how much it means to me personally - not waste time or space on YT!

I absolutely ADORE Andra Day... this piece was not for her at all. She seemed to struggle trying to make the notes work together. The key was too low for her and the song needed to be a little more simple. Classical Jazz can be simple. This wasn't as elegant as I had hoped. However, whomever this pianist Lang Lang is has fingers that have been kissed by Jesus!!!! Absolutely SPLENDID on his end!!!!

Well, everything was supposed to be tending me to dislike this. Check out yourself: 1) I had a long period before of listening to Alicia's great version. 2) I don''t like big cities at all (stupid fact, but also important) 3) At the first "New-Yoooork... " I was like "aaah, she can't nail it". But I gave this version a chance and.... man!.... I was crying like a baby at the end, because she MANAGED finally to make a soft transaction between weak "New-Yooork" and very strong and emotional "New-Yooork" ===== !!!! ==== so pure, so magic, it's been a looong time I hadn't felt something like this before. :( Thank you!..
