I remember how physically intense it was to spar in fencing, I cant imagine what its like with heavier blades. These guys getting a workout for sure.

Sparring has been very limited for the last month or two. I seem to have lost a lot of grip endurance, so that is currently what limits the length of the bouts.

@@messeringaround1426 I hear ya.. it's wood splitting season here and I'm shocked how little steam I have to swing a maul at the moment. Time to double down...

Props to the guy using the clamshells/SPES heavies. I found trying to use them with anything 1 handed impossible

I like SPES heavies for longsword. I've done one messer bout with them and hated it. Too much of a struggle to do grip changes.

What environment are you sparing in? That looks ridiculously perfect for a sword fight. If I didn’t know what HEMA was I still wouldn’t be shocked to see a sword fight in a bricked archway. What do you do to modify your Marxbrüder?
@messeringaround14269 ай бұрын
It's a colonnade in an old school. I bought the Marxbrüder second hand. The original owner thought it hit too hard for sparring and shortened it. The blade length is now almost exactly the same as my other messers.

Im curious to know if you ever sparred a kali/escrima/arnis practitioner? BTW, nice setting to spar.
