Langkawi To Georgetown, Penang (Traveling Malaysia On A Budget)

**So after some technical difficulties we are finally getting our Penang videos out! Unfortunately, things aren’t running perfectly in line on the channel now but we still wanted to share our time here **
After our last travel day we aren’t too sure how this is going to go but here goes nothing…
We are setting off from Langkawi this morning and we have quite the journey ahead of us! Finding up to date information on how to get to Georgetown, Penang (the cheap way) was a lot harder than you would think so we have a ferry, a bus, a train and hopefully another ferry to get to our final destinations!!! So here’s hoping this goes smoothly

Hey, we're Eoin and Aisling, a couple from Ireland who have packed their bags, waved goodbye to home and set off to travel the world in search of new adventures!
We started our journey by spending 3 months walking from the top to the bottom of Croatia and exploring a few of the boarding countries. Then at the start of January 2022 we hopped on a flight to South East Asia!
We hope to be in this part of the world for the next year, but who knows what might happen along the way, our plans are forever changing!
We tend to plan each day as it comes and can't wait to see what the world has in store for us!

We really did, the food was amazing, the street art was so interesting and the people there were so so friendly. We had a great time, can't wait to share our next video! Penang Hill was also so so beautiful we really enjoyed visiting there!

Hey! No we didn't prebook anything for this travel day. Just showed up and hoped for the best haha the ferry leaving Georgetown runs all day so if you miss one or its full you won't be waiting long until the next one

Only the intercity trains have toilets. The ETS train service have toilets and buffet coach. The service that you took is a comuter train .

I can’t remember exactly how long it was but We we got the ferry from Langkawi at 9am and I think we arrived in Georgetown around 3pm ☺️

Kuala = Delta / Basin, Kuala Kedah = Kedah River Delta Wasn't the train from Kuala Kedah available? It is basically the same train your are catching in Alor Star...😊

Thank you Rizlan, we really love your translation for us! We looked into it but couldn't find any times online but we really enjoyed getting the public bus, there was a great breeze coming through the windows to cool us down haha

No train off Kuala kedah or Kuala perlis, for Kuala perlis the nearest train station would be Arau and Kuala kedah is Alor Setar.

We heard this, it would be so easy if it was still running but we actually enjoyed this route and getting to see some of the smaller towns that we probably would have never even heard of otherwisr

U can just fly to from langkawi to penang it isRm89 each

Wonder why you didn't take the direct route : ferry from Langkawi to Penang? The journey will take about 3 hours max and cost about RM70 per person. Edit : The comment above before I came to the last part of your video. Now I understand, your indirect route cost less for 2 persons - budget travel indeed!!!

That ferry wasn't running either, ideally that is what we would have done but not possible at the time unfortunately
