We tried IEW and didnt work for us. In her very young years we used Learning Language Arts through literature. We needed something heavier for spelling because she isn’t a strong speller. I have a hodge podge of things that I have pieced together that seem to be working well for her this year in 6th grade. Thanks for sharing ❤😊

I haven’t used any of those you mentioned, they sound wonderful though. One we tried, which I found excellent was ‘Writing & Rhetoric,’ I saw huge improvements in my son’s writing, but he begun to struggle in book 3, imo it’s quite advanced. I loved it so much I bought the books up to book 9 inc the teacher books, 😕…..but Im hopeful we’ll use them at some point between both my boys. Recommend looking into those. For my son, who’s 11, recently turned. He’d be in yr 7 in September if he were at school, I have chosen, Sonlight la 4 for creative expression, this is below his grade, but I adapt it to use with both my boys. He’ll be well into R&S Eng 6, by September, too, this is for grammar and inc some writing, Generations Curriculum for the Reading and using their Read Alouds, spanning across several grades, bought a bunch of those. Level 5 Sonlight readers, these are quite advanced imo. I picked up 180 days of spelling and vocabulary, I thinks it’s called that, 😊…..I saw that in one of your videos, and it looks really good. He has some books from Kate DiCamillo and I have found some good comprehension and extensions for those on TPT, and literature using Bookshark C and some D books, it’s a whole mish mash, ☺️…..hope it works, it’s all from curriculum companies we have used lots, so I’m sure it will run smoothly, 🤞🙂. My 8 year old, he’ll almost be 9 in September, finishing up R&S Eng 3 and moving into 4, Sonlight la 4, explode the code 7 and 8, wordly wise, phonics D, generations curriculum reading but not picked up their workbook for him, readalouds from generations plus Bookshark C and some D which incorporates literature exposure.
