I really enjoyed your content. As an Australian of East Asian descent, will I be less favourable amongst locals in Eastern Europe due to my ethnicity?
@ConorClyneTsarExperience5 жыл бұрын
That depends where exactly in Eastern Europe

Hello Conor, Thanks a lot for your helpful and funny videos. I have a question. I am choosing which language I will learn. If I will choose to learn russian language will I understand ukranian people? I heard that a lot of ukranian people speak russian language in big cities - is it true? Thank you very much.

In my experience, people in Kherson were more willing to put the effort in to communicate with me than the folks in Kiev. Their English may not be as good, but they were a lot more interested in communicating

Did they look better in Kherson then Kiev?

A few years back, I had a babushka neighbor at one of my apartments in Odessa. She spoke perfect English with NO ACCENT! She was at least 65-70 years old. One of my major regrets was not engaging her more and getting the story of how she spoke such good English. I always imagined she was likely in the Soviet security services and maybe even a spy!!! Imagine... a 65+ year old babushka that spoke flawless English... that is the rarest gem.

Definitely a rarity in Odessa or anywhere in the ex-USSR judging by Mr Bald's videos ;)

Try counting your words per minute, you talk so fast it’s difficult to understand you, slow it down a bit. Maybe it’s your accent, I don’t know. However, throughout this entire video not one good looking or even decent looking woman passed by.

Just came back to Miami after spending 2 weeks in Kyiv & Warsaw.....Young People speak English and are really super excited to practice their English...........However we spent some time at the Family Dacha out in the Country and out there very few speak English.......Ukraine Language is now is in full force ...we (my Ukraine Wife) went to many places in Kyiv and were initiated with Ukraine Language.....However as Mr Connor says if you learn lets say 12 Ukrainian /Russian words you will be good to go and the Ukraine People will really like that......I have no advice on the rip offs ....other than to say I personally wear no jewelry no watches and I do not use my iPhone in places were It can be snatch out of your hand...................Ukraine is LOADED with the most Beautiful Educated Women on the Planet.............they are Family oriented 100% so to find your Woman you must be Focused and Patient for this long Mission or you will Fail ......Privyet - Dobroho

So will I have a problem in Kyiv trying to find people who speak English? I just want to go there for tourism purposes. I know someone who lives in Kyiv, but I can’t have her with me all the time because she has a family and a life obviously. Everyone has a different opinion on how much English is spoken in Kyiv. Some people say that English speakers will have no problem in Kyiv finding people who speak English, and others say that no one speaks English in Kyiv. It doesn’t really help me. I just know a few words and phrases in Ukrainian and Russian. I just don’t want to go to Kyiv and not be able to find a single person who speaks English. That would make the trip extremely frustrating. I once read an article that said Ukrainian Police get at least one phone call everyday from someone who speaks English, who needs the police. So they have at least one person on staff who speaks English. Are Ukrainians helpful to tourists even if they can’t speak English or know limited English? I really want to go to Kyiv, but I just hope there is enough people there who speak English to help me.

This video could last 3 seconds, you just needed to say "Ukrainians in general do not speak English well, or none at all". The end. That's all the relevant objective information you're conveying. The rest is pure bigotry. Your condescending tone and faces speak for themselves. You present it like not knowing English is a matter of education. Like countries where people don't speak English are somehow less educated. That's terrible. Most native English speakers do not know any other language, but expect the world to speak theirs. Why don't you find an index of where your country ranks in Portuguese speakers, or Russian speakers, and present it like it's a bad thing?
