The line that always gets me in this song is "we're cattle at the stall". Makes me think of my mum's family, Liverpool Irish, and how she told me that the men in the generation above her would have to go down to the docks every morning to stand in a stall were they'd be selected, in her words, "like cattle". And if they were picked they had a job for the day, and if not they went home to their families with nothing. I'm sure this song would mean something to them too if any of them were left to hear it.

I am convinced that little corners of the internet like the comment section that an amazing song like this produces, are unique little vestiges where everyone is like minded and in some way on some level we are all the type of people with a romantic nostalgia for the present as if it were the past, all for our shared aw and admiration of a song such as this.

Beautifully said, for me music is the only genuinely useful gift from the internet age...yet arguments rage about what is and what isn’t... Let peace reign in these places and celebrate the sheer joy and heady madness of being alive in these times.

I don't know how much more I can take. And I certainty cant take another soul rending song i missed from you good and true people. But I don't want to go til I hear you all in person. For the sake of my breath, never come to Wisconsin. Also, please come, because I jest. You help sustain me in the memories of dark times past and those here present. And the long, dark hope of the future in your music gives me a belly breath when all i can do is gasp for air. Thank you.

We always sing, even when were losing 'Cos Dublin's drone is hard enough especially when you're down and you're boozing We sing the Oul' Triangle and then the Tommy Ryan 'Cos all the world's a jail and we can't remember why Why we agreed to live and lie in embers of a cold old fire nobody remembers They hand the ashes back to me down the button factory, we're cattle at the stall We look for signs that Dublin's heart's still beating, That concrete and glass and peelers and mass, they haven’t stopped the people from screaming, Being trapped by all the cameras you're inclined to stay at home, And forget some songs were written to remind you you weren’t born Born to live and lie and die in embers of a cold old fire nobody remembers They hand the ashes back to me down the button factory, we're cattle at the stall We see the cracks under the foundation, Smouldering on the faces of the people on the drip of isolation, We hear the sounds come streaming across the crackling air, The broken words of swine who would tell us that we were Born to live and lie and die in embers of a cold old fire nobody remembers They hand the ashes back to me down the button factory, were cattle at the stall And when did we agree to live and lie and die in embers of a cold old fire nobody remembers? They hand the ashes back to me down the button factory, we're cattle at the stall.

You are correct in that this is a very heavy and doom laden, it brought emotions welling up inside me and tears to my eyes, it shows that music doesn’t have to be loud and distorted to be heavy , but I’m a metalhead to my very core, and I just have to say ,especially to lixna, not all metal is cartoon music (some very much is!) , listen to Marrow by YOB as a starting point, it might open your mind to the genre a little.X
