I have used “Pam”, non-stick cooking spray for case lube. When I make 222 brass out of 223 cases, I spay Pam on a sponge and roll cases on it.

I've been using Hornady Unique Case Lube paste (similar to Imperial Sizing Die Wax) for a couple years now and I really like it a lot. $5 for a small tub of it at Scheels in Billings and one tub lasts a loooong time because you don't need very much. I don't get any shoulder dents and cases glide right through the dies. I've started using powdered graphite in alcohol for case neck lube and so far I'm pleased. It's very cheap and easy to make. I de-prime and wet tumble my brass before sizing and the combination of these two lubes means I don't have to clean them again after sizing and neck expansion.

I have a professional gunsmith who has been using lanolin for years on a lot of gun lubing functions and says it works the best of anything he has ever used
@mikeb2459 Жыл бұрын
A wet tumbler won’t remove lanolin so I’m glad you mentioned that you use dry.

Would like to know some more about that press!
@mikecollins8241 Жыл бұрын
I keep some used yogurt tubs (quart) in my reloading room, cases go from one, thru press to another... same for doing prep etc.. easy to keep organized, can put lids on, hold a bunch of cases, and free ;)

You want to set the die up so it bumps the shoulder back one to two thou from the size of a fired case, and spin those cases with your fingers to centre them for a more accurate measurement, if you put any more headspace on those cases than 8 thou they become dangerous, just some advise for the viewers new to reloading

I like your channel. No BS just the facts. I make the lanolin lube as well. It works great! I put my brass into a plastic container with a lid and throw a blue paper shop towel in there. I spray a few squirts of lube in there and put the lid on and shake it up. It evenly distributes the lube without getting dents in my cases. I also buy Heat gas line anti freeze in the red bottle to mix with the lanolin since it’s 90% alcohol.

Can I talk you into wet tumbling with Dawn and Lemishine to remove oil? Less risk of lead exposure in dry tumbling.

I wonder if Lanolin and Acetone would work? cheap easy to get, 100% evaporation in seconds. I've heard of guys using Lee bullet lube and acetone with good success.
@cavedweller195928 күн бұрын
It would probably work fine, but who would want to be breathing the fumes?
@EitriBrokkr28 күн бұрын
@cavedweller1959 outside, cookie pan. Should only take seconds... And you're breathing the alcohol fumes 🤷♂️

I would like to get a 204. For range and dog's maybe Coyotes. What Rifle Savage? Ruger, CZ, maybe Tikka if they still make them? What your thoughts?
@cavedweller1959 Жыл бұрын
CZ 527, if you are willing to pay scalpers prices. Tikka T3 in wood, hard to improve on that.

I have used red heet for the alcohol. Heet is 99% and is a lot cheaper than buying 99% isopropyl.
@gbennett2889 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I’ve been using it for years.
@CplSkiUSMC Жыл бұрын
Heet is methanol and is not that great for breathing vapors and skin contact. Isopropyl is easy to find and safe to use (except for the flammability that comes with any alcohol). I'd stick with the isopropyl for this application.
@gbennett2889 Жыл бұрын
@@CplSkiUSMC not true. Red bottle heet is 99% Iso. Yellow bottle heet is methanol. Look at the MSDS if you don’t believe me. As I said I’ve been using it for years.

Sr. how long you been using the Lanolin ad alcohol mixture? I heard that it gets "gummy" and gets your dies dirty so you often have to clean up your resizing dies? Like every 50 to 75 rounds you have clean the die and get the residue of the lube out of the die? What's your experience so far? Thanks.
