Yup, this is my go to cycling channel the coverage is better as the tv stations are putting out it's pretty sad to to their level of content and then compare it to Lanterne doing this much better. Sad for them, good for us we have the option to watch it here!

@@famousatmidnight15 If I would ever need a tactical analysis of a race this is the place I would go to look. Not only because he often goes into it, he hasn't missed things which the big stations sometimes do. I sometimes think they do it on purpose just because 'the story' is better that way, trying to appeal to a viewer base just looking for some headline comments to casually mention during their morning coffee with the colleagues. While the analysis here is more on the level you'd expect the team's and riders to have after a race. Which is why this channel has drawn so many fans, it's pulling us more into the actual racing and we're not threated as just another statistic on the view charts.

I think UAE just has too much new blood not yet used to domestiquing, the power dynamics need to be sorted out in the coming season before they're really able to dominate like their roster suggested they could.
@MDP17022 жыл бұрын
I don't think Almeida wants to be a domestique except for Pogacar, afterall he came from QST where he was a (co-)leader in these kinds of races. Ayuso should at the moment domestique imo considering his age, even if he might be better than the others, unless the difference is too great. Soler is difficult, if he had stayed in Movistar, he might have become (co-)leader in these kind of races, and I don't think he wants to just immediately fall under the 'always domestique' roll at UAE, especially not in a race like this, with this squad. So yeah, I think they definitely have things to sort out. Imo in UAE there are 2 riders with a clear leader place: Pogacar, followed by McNulty in one day/week races. I'd expected Almeida to be around such a leadership position too, but he hasn't shown enough this season and with so many other strong riders, he might have to fight for his place except maybe the giro looking at their provisional squad (which might have been a contractual promise?).

@MDP17022 жыл бұрын
@@afonsoteixeiradamota404 *but did McnultyI show?* He won two 1 day races and a stage in PN. He finished second in Algarve and although he only finished 12th at PN, he lost 11 minutes in a not really hard stage, which means either something happened (a fall, puncture, ...) or he might have dropped intentionally to be able to attack in a later stage. This might make sense if Almeida was meant to go for GC. it would make no sense for him to not even finish in the top 100 in that stage 3 even on a bad day. McNulty actually took time back in the later stages, if he hadn't lost those 11 minutes, he likely would have finished before Almeida in GC. And while 8th in PN isn't bad, it is still behind every other real GC rider of not that was present. *And I think stage 4 says it all, he won over no one less than Quintana and Carapaz...* That wasn't the case when I wrote my comment though. It is promising, but it isn't like he rode Quintana out his wheel. And Carapaz honestly has so far underperformed also imo, so he shouldn't exactly be a measuring stick as of yet. I hope both Almeida and Carapaz improve by the time the Giro comes around.

Interesting LR! Do you think this is UAE trying to establish a pecking order behind Tadej? Soler, Polanc, Covi, all seem to have similar palmares, and skillsets... Maybe they are not keen to have Ayoso be the 2nd wonder boys on the team they have to support? Super pickup LR and this will be interesting to keep an eye on. I think that when Pogacar rocks up there is no question who works for who, but maybe there are too many egos/ambitious guys with similar abilities on the team??? Interesting... Will keep an eye on this...

I think everybody underestimates the first 80km of the stage. I've driven many times up there and it's virtually 80k's of uphill with very little rest and some hard percentages along the way. that must have left a fair bit of them quite empty for the rest of it, so survival mode it is for most of them.
