What we need is a 70-200mm f2.8 specific for APSC, with optical stabilization, smaller than FF and under $1k

Consider sony come out with 16-25 and 24-50. I am quite certain they will come out with something like 50-100/135 f2.8. That will be your perfecr 70-200 f2.8 for apsc.

Use the Tamron 70-180 f2.8
@arfmf
@arfmf 4 ай бұрын
@@ImadogGarcia that one is full frame, I want it smaller. Think 70-200 F4 macro size and features only it’s APSC specific, f2.8 and it costs less. I’d be down for something a little shorter on the long end if it’s compact enough in return. Let’s say Sony makes an APSC constant f2.8 zoom telephoto in the same chassis of the 70-350

@@arfmf there is no smaller frame when you use tele in apsc. You only have size advantages in wide and light wide angle

Very interesting. Would be nice for like news gathering. One lens you can do interviews with and b-roll too. Parfocal would be helpful for that typical zooming out on a reporter shot.

Probabally a lens better suited on tripod

I caved and put a rokinon 35-150 2-2.8 on my apsc... This looks interesting though.

That lack of lens stablization really hurts on a Sony. This would be the perfect lens for the Lumix S5ii and its superior IBIS.
@melmaciandissenter2324
@melmaciandissenter2324 3 ай бұрын
If there is no connection between the lens and the camera, the IBIS cannot know which focal length to compensate for. Either you select a focal length manually before shooting and you don't zoom during the recording, or you put the camera on a gimbal.

For those complaining about the lack of stabilisation, you either have a very shallow memory or haven't been on a cinema set. And I really mean CINEMA, not TV, or soap or corporate... cinema. Cinematograph, to be precise. ALL of the cinema cameras (all of them) are supported on massive 20 to 30 kg tripods with oversized mounting-bowls. They film from the same position, sometimes with panoramic movement or a little zoom-in/out... they do NOT change position, they remain STATIC. Or they are installed on hydraulic dollies, weighing 80 to 120 kg, rolling on adjustable suspensions, with rubber wheels, etc. Result : zero vibration. Nada. Nope. Void. None. So... what it means is : cinema lenses need NO vibration compensation/reduction/control/whatever. Absolutely none. If you are filming corporate or commercial stuff, this is often a whole different thing. Teams are small and sometimes solo, days are shorts and many times 3 to 6 hours max, tripods are a luxury you can not always afford, clients love when it moves and flows and flies and... they want gimbals ! Period. Because they saw them on YT and know "It's going to look great with that flying camera, you know ! Do you have that for our film ?". This Laowa lens is a cinema-only piece of optical gear, it does not belong anywhere else. At all. And... it needs no vibration control/erasing/cancelling system. None. Easy to understand, but you have to think with the word "cinematograph" in mind.

An interesting lens, a solid range and nice F-Stop. That big 50-130 print looks tacky. Needs stabilization or at least a tripod

Thoughts on A6700 with Sigma 18-50mm as an all around choice?
@Armbrust210
@Armbrust210 4 ай бұрын
Would be a great choice if you have the money to spare. Otherwise you can save money on the body by going with an A6400. The lens will be a good choice for your content as it offers a really short minimum focus Distance, allowing for detailed close-ups

good as a standard zoom, note you're missing out on optical steady shot that you would get from the tamron 17-70mm he has a video on it (sigma vs tamron vs sony)

Like Ethefake said the tamron has stuff the others don't. However, I value size over anything else, and could not be any happier with my choice (Sigma 18-50). It is so so so light and small. Your choice, depends on what you prioritize.

I can't get past the lack of stabilization and the shaky results. Even though the 70-350 is f4.5-6.3, the lens stabilization is world class and rock solid even handheld out at 350.

Even DJT pseudo-MAGA sh*t is made in China. For inexpensive tech-gear, they have taken the lead for quite a few years now. For the higher-end stuff, it's a while different story... they try, they improve, they kinda but then not. Because they lack in consistency, deep engineering, refining along the process, etc. They are good makers, not outstanding. They are poor root-engineers, sometimes even worse. You can make a difference, but not this type of goods. Be smart, buy local whenever you can but try avoiding hitting walls when it's not necessary !
