I live next door to a Chinese absentee landlord who thinks US laws and health codes are optional. I feel sorry for her unsuspecting tenants who ultimately suffer. The town I live in needs to file criminal charges, it's unbelievable how negligent she is and the local real estate agents who enable her to keep the place rented. She's owned it for 10 years, bought it on auction and has never been to the property. I suspect it doesn't dawn her that she's responsible for people's living conditions as public policy. Under her ownership the place has turned into a health hazard.

civicide noun \ˈsi-və-ˌsīd\ Definition: The deliberate act of committing violence against society or its institutions, often as an expression of personal despair, systemic frustration, or retaliation. Actions that disrupt or dismantle communal structures, leaving fractures in the bonds that hold society together. Etymology: From Latin civis meaning "citizen" or "society" and the suffix -cide, meaning "killing" or "destruction." Usage: The incident at the power station was described as an act of civicide, a tragic symptom of the disconnect between individual despair and the larger community.

The weird part of all the car incidents is it's starting to remind me of the issues the US has with mass gun incidents. I know it'll never happen with how much China is burying it but it would be interesting to study both sets of incidents to see if there are commonalities to the people doing the mass incidents. The scientist in me wants to understand the underlying causes and see if it really is a similar problem in both countries, different problems being expressed in similar ways, and/or if there are solutions for all societies to look at to help these people before they reach the point where they think THIS is the right answer.

Something to think about: On the same day a deranged teenager mass-murdered children in 'Sandy Hook Elementary' in the USA: A deranged man stabbed 23 children in a Chinese elementary school. There is the usual suspect behind the phenom: 'Infamy Lust' after seeing how someone became an infamous legend via relentless news reports. In the Chinese case, its believed the man was desperate to leave some mark of power and effect upon the world and was repeatedly interested in the horrific 2010 mass school stabbing in China. That's another one where PRIOR to that a horrific Chinese school mass-stabbing received nothing but attention, 24/7 attention and turned the attacker into the most infamous man in all of China, relentlessly see on TV and media and I think it was actually on the very day he was sentenced to death: Another man went on a horrific school stabbing. The USA still had the same non-stop relentless problem despite 10000000s of experts bltantly telling media to STOP posting the photos and making 'monsters' out of the attackers they would not stop and continue playing ominous music and zooming in on the attackers like they're THE single most important and powerful monsters and we need to know how they think, read manifestos and keep saying their name and posting that big big scary picture of them. China actually DID start doing this very thing and he attackers are no longer 'glorified' as great evil names and faces for all to remember. but THESE things, keep in mind China has a very different kind of social culture and operates in a 'Shame Culture' (as opposed to Christendom's 'Guilt Culture' really, almost opposite). but the point being they do these things from a different way and there is a reason why it will be a man but NOT a teenager or deranged youth but a man who failed to get social status over others and when they mow down children there is a social reason for this aimed entirely at the parents and to reduce their social status (thus, he is at least bigger than them by lowering them). and sorry if I'm not doing a great job articulating the Chinese mainlander mindset. It's something very hard for us Westerners to easily explain since we don't even have certain concepts that they do.

Laowhy, Can I give you another area of censorship? Road related deaths incl pedestrian deaths. Now the 2023 "official" number was 60,028. Err, well, in 2016, it was around 217,500 and in 2019, it was officially 250,272. In 2020, it was between 325,000 and 326,000. Can't recall the exact number but I think it was 325,600 or so. Since the it has been erased, but I recall the number on Wikipedia. Now the Wiki number is for 2019 only. The estimate for last year is thus only 18.4% of the 2020 figure. Unofficial estimates are that the 'real" figure is now around 400k. So not only have a lot of people disappeared, they clearly never existed.

I recently went to China. I specifically went to Wuhan and I felt extremely safe. Personally, I didn't see any of the dangers you have described. The only negative thing that happened to me was when I was given wrong directions to a morning market. Aside from that one small incident and possible miscommunication I had a really good trip.

Thought Stamp‌ is a concept in Liu Cixin's science fiction novel "The Three-Body Problem" series, invented by Wallfacer Bill Hines. Thought Stamp is a technology that can directly implant specific thoughts or beliefs into the human brain, affecting the brain's neuronal network in some way, so that the affected person firmly accepts a certain point of view, which is indelible like a stamp. Many Americans have been "thought stamped" by the media. Therefore, China and USA actually live in parallel universes.

In societies characterized by a repressive normative culture, such as that of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), there is a significant correlation with the prevalence of chronic mental health issues among the population. Individuals in such environments often experience profound levels of depression and hopelessness, leading them to perceive life as lacking value. Within this deeply troubled demographic, one can also find individuals exhibiting sociopathic tendencies, alongside those who are acutely aware of the pervasive despair surrounding them. These individuals may come to believe that their violent actions, whether through acts of aggression against others or self-harm, are misguided attempts to alleviate their own suffering and that of those they perceive as similarly afflicted. The underlying cause of this tragic phenomenon can be traced back to the oppressive governance exemplified by the CCP, which stifles the well-being of a substantial segment of Chinese society. Thanks, as always, Mathew for your reporting on these issues occuring in CCP run China. I hope more folks discover your channel...!!!

It's painfully true, and the worst part is that every single time that it happens, the UK government does the same thing as the commies do, call it an "isolated incident" and pretend they're not all related. Granted they come from quite a different source in the UK... Fuck man... I mean, if you stay out of major cities and be off in the countryside, you'll be _FINE,_ but inside major cities; London, Birmingham, Manchester... you gotta have eyes in the back of your head.

Talking to family about China is always so difficult as I don't want to pull up a KZbin video with two dudes as "evidence" and the news just post quotes of CCP officials. So what I'm supposed to present to support my argument? I can't be the only one looking like a total nut case when saying that in China children are taught to stab or how tofu drag is a thing.

There are several chinese language twitter accounts that upload videos and news from Chinese netizens. Serpentza sometimes retweets them, as well as the great translation movement on twitter. Although a lot of the mainstream media is extremely lacking when it comes to news about China, you can find articles about specific topics and events that were to big to cover up. They are few and far between, but they do exist. I feel the same way though. It's crazy to me how much insanity has been going on in China since 2020 and even before and almost no one not associated with the Falun Gong will report on it.

But to get around you have to constantly show your passport and subject yourself to a bunch of dumbass apps just to get around. No cash like when I was there. That would actually be a super interesting thing to know. I would suspect that there are private channels of some sorts where people share these things and or scrape them as soon as they get posted (before they are deleted). But they probably can't tell us, or the ccp would know better where to look. But those are just my assumptions.
