I changed Steam accidentally and needed Google lenses to change it back. Different characters are so much harder to understand than your native ones.

I watch so many jp vtubers that youtube switches to japanese whenever I log in on like a new device or something. Changing back to english is a small adventure every time.

She would only be able to misread it for the most part (Р=R, Н=N, В=V, etc.). After all, it's rooted in Greek and not Latin (like virtually all other western languages), plus some purely slavic letters like Я (no, it isn't actually a reversed R, it's a simplified Ѧ).

@ZorathCursed that is a terrible way to simply that letter

Its not like you have to read much in a game you spend hundreds of hours tho. I played LoL in japanese for a year and it actually kinda help me read kanji more than anything else :D Reading russian itself is pretty simple, and gaming slang consist mostly of english words typed in russian and curses. So to get basic idea you have to only know what sounds letters produce (and russian is extremly easy on that department, half of letter sounds just like they do in english, and every one have pretty much only one pronouncation) and couple of curse words.

tbh the constantly moving and shifting letters on the subtitles are super distracting

'yabai" is not "shet". it's harmless. yaba is more like.. "oh no" "dang" or stuff like that
@yuhuiTL
@yuhuiTL 13 күн бұрын
I mean, in this case I use "oh shit" to portray a more intense emotion than "oh no" if she said it casually, I'd translate it as "oh no" but in this case she screamed it, so I translated it like that. I'd say it's pretty harmless it's just a way to emphasize emotion to a word and not to "curse" someone or anything like that

I had French classes up until Grade 10. But I was literally the only guy in that class which made socially-inept me awkward as fuck, so I didn't continue after that. I want to say I got to the point I could read French to a degree (probably because so many words are similar to English), but spoken French would still be gibberish. Took some German for a term in middle school too, but the teacher sucked at teaching it so I retained nothing. It was all crossword puzzles and no substance. I do wish I could learn Japanese, and I feel like I've watched enough anime and other JP content that I'd be able to grasp it rather quickly, but I don't think I'll ever be able to focus and commit unless I break my gacha addiction somehow. Like, I can pick out individual words from spoken Japanese now and can pretty much see how they're spelled in romaji in my head, so about all I'd need is to actually learn the definitions of more words and I could piece together the gist of what's being said. Written Japanese (Kanji, Hiragana, Katakana, etc.) looks incredibly daunting, though. No idea how I'd wrap my head around a whole new set of characters.
