Laptop Not Turning on | Blinking Flashing Caps Lock Blue Led Light | Ram Issue Quick Easy Fix

This is a simple fix due to a faulty Ram Stick causing a blinking or flashing of the Caps Lock Blue Led Light. Consequently the laptop does not boot up (laptop is not booting up).
The laptop here is a Dell Vostro 1500, but i believe this will work for almost any other laptop.

thank you so much, I had been looking at new screens thinking that was my problem, dreading the cost & then decided to Google the actual problem, your you tube page came up & after removing the 1st ram stick, it started up straight away, I could enable my Norton Security & update it which was the first thing I could do in 3 weeks. now it is working perfectly & I just need to get new ram & considering it was 4am when I found your page & by 4.30am I had a massive smile on my face. It seemed confusing at first to me because I don't know anything about computers.....but I unscrewed the 2 little screws on the back of my computer...and there was two RAM Sticks and I took one out...and I guess it was the bad one cause my laptop works normally now....it turned on like normal...but I will replace the other one! Thanks again....I was right about to spend $500 on a new laptop and I really didn't want to!

Oh, I forgot to mention. the cpu is default clocked at 2.2 ghz, but it's actually got a boost on it that, when I'm on high performance mode on my computer, it boosts to 2.7ghz, and it actually does wonders. I'm always on that mode. My main bottlenecks are my gpu and my ram. For example, the game-debate website says my computer cannot run hyperdimension u action unleashed... But it can run it, and on quite high settings at that. the gpu, in this case, is not the bottleneck though, it's my ram. if it wasn't for that, I could run it at max settings. So I'm thinking of either a) saving and buying a new laptop after this and just transfering my hard drive to the new computer and just replacing the drivers, or b) saving and buying new ram and an nvidia 980m, maybe an nvidia 1080m whenever it comes out. I'll probably have to replace the psu, but considering that my screen resolution is only 768p, i shouldn't even need that badass of a gpu.

I just got given 2 laptops that are not coming on or beeping. am going to try replacement ram on these and see if it works. will do an updater video if does. also did not get a charger so ordered a uni one that could be another reason. though my other chargers fit these.

what should i do ? my computer cn be turn on with safe mode ONLY . but when i try to start windows normally . either it will restart again and again and again or just turn to black screen with the power and battery blinking the orange light . i also tried Last Knowwn .... but still nothing works .

I had the same issue (caps lock flashing, blank display) , but in my case not the RAM was the problem. I replaced the charger and now is working.

Be shure to check the type of specs your old ram sticks has. For me i was using so-dimm memory for laptops. I was installing it into a laptop that only supported PC3l NOT PC3. But unfortunately i ordered pc3 so-dimm ddr3 memory and the laptop did not start it just kept posting.

My Inspiron 1721 won't POST caps lock and num lock blink but the scroll lock stays lit. I tried Googling for the solution but I only see results for blinking caps and SCROLL lock but NUM lock stays lit. Not to mention either it's Vostro or not my model of Inspiron

I was upgrading Windows 10 on my friend's Acer Gateway laptop last night. It took forever but appeared to have completed successfully. Then I was required to tweak a few settings (relevant ads, etc) then it was time to restart the laptop. Shock! Horror! NOTHING! Just that same flashing blue light. I have tried to take the battery out, pressed the start button for 1 min etc.. No change! I'm very nervous about taking it apart. And I can't help relating my issue with the W 10 upgrade because it happened immediately after. My question is, how come yours work after you removed both Rams? Isn't that necessary to get the laptop to work?

i have kinda the similar problem . Everyrtime i close my laptop lid its power LED (not powerbutton) starts to pulse BTW my LEDs colours are blue and battery is green on fully charged and orange on not fully charged. My power LED starts pulsing I have no idea why and how this started (BTW all other LEDs turn off except the power LED) and now to fully turn my laptop off, I have to open the lid again and press the power button. And even sometimes while the lid is clsoed and off , it randomly turns on sometimes , I have no idea what the heck happenend to my laptop and its really concerning .. plz help me :(((
