Hi there. I know it's old video, but would you happen to know if it's possible to replace just the lcd cable in this model (touchsmart specifically)? HP manual says thatr with touchscreens it has to be the whole display assembly replaced rather than separate components.

Is it possible to change from LED backlight diode to IPS in this notebook? Awesome video btw

Not sure exactly what you're asking here. Any screen you put in these will have an LED backlight irrespective of the LCD technology. If it helps, the screen that came out of this laptop looked like a TN panel, and the replacement was an IPS panel.

Great video Ben! can you recommend a particular tool set or sets to accomplish this particular task? Thanks!

I didn't use anything particularly special. So long as you have a set of small screwdrivers you should be OK. It's more important to have a plastic pry tool (or spudger) so you can undo the plastic clips without damaging them.

thank you for your video. I have a question, where is the lcd inverter in this display?
@benwhite79778 жыл бұрын
This is an LED backlit screen, so there is no inverter. Depending on the voltage requirements of the LEDs, there may be some DC-DC boost circuitry (probably on the motherboard) but I can't give you a definite answer.

Hi I have the HP 15-j078 with the 1366x768 screen, would I be able to swap it for the full 1080p HP-Compaq 720549-001WUXGA screen?
@benwhite79777 жыл бұрын
If the connector and backlight type are the same, then the higher resolution screen should be compatible. I can't say for sure for your particular model, but in this video I was actually upgrading from 1366x768 to 1920x1080 and it worked fine.
