Thank you so much for this video! I accidently left my computer bag behind my car and got distracted with a phone call. Completely forgot about it and yep drove over it as I was backing out of the garage. Lucky me I had a spare HP Pavillion Dv7-1135nr for parts. I used your video to replace my cracked to pieces LCD screen. It works like a champ and I saved me approximately $125 for screen and then $150 for computer tech fee. Thanks again!

thank you. I just changed out my grandson's HP Pavilion G7 229nr and I followed your excellent tutorial. the hardest part was the two opening screws, which you explained how to get to them. otherwise this one was less complicated than one that you demonstrated inasmuch as there was only the one connector to deal with. the others were tucked away from the operative field. Great job, Isaac! Your very detailed step-by-step instruction helped me a lot to loosen the clips around the screen. The instruction that came with my replacement screen wasn't clear how to do this. However, placement of screen and webcam are somewhat different on my dv7's model.

This is a great video. I have tried all absurd youtube solutions, fn key and F4, all weird videos and nothing worked. My friends laptop screen is broken and she didn´t knew what to do, first parts of the screen were working, but after some time, everything was damaged. I just removed the screen exactly as shown in the video and the most important thing is the connection between the motherboard and the screen, after you unplugged this, all you have to do is to connect the vga monitor with the cable or an hdmi cable to an lcd. I have tried and both worked on th first try. Big thank you!

This seems so much better than 'baking' the motherboard that I have seen on other vids! I'm hoping this is what's wrong with my HP Laptop Pavilion dv7, because my screen is blank but the lights are on...hmm, maybe a bit of blinking from the number, dvd, and caps lights though too.

Good video, I taught myself how to do it then just saw this video. It's a pretty easy process but you need to be careful because the parts are delicate. Little tip as well, in the video he left the side brackets on the computer which works but what I did and is better is to take the brackets off with the old screen and then take them off and just put them on the new one and put it all back on. Simple

Hi! Just going through to replace a friend's screen for him and wondering if this is the same procedure for the version with the BEATS Audio? It's got another bar along the bottom for speakers but it looks like it should lift out the same. Thanks!

My dv7-1183cl does not have the plastic bezel shown on the video. I assume there are a different versions of this laptop. I am stuck with the removal of the screen.

hey, thanks for the reply but i cut the screen off a few weeks ago. It all looks very nice and clean as if its just a thick keyboard.It looks really cool because its in the slide out apartment on my desk. So the laptop can just slide in and out easy.Also its been really fast recently and i use a wireless adapter anyways. Thanks again

No, I never opened computers or such things before. It was not hard at all, just be careful with the connection item. Only a small screwdriver and a piece of adhesive tape is needed. Check the tutorial at the same time when you open your laptop. It doesn't matter if you can do it in twenty minutes or twenty days. The important thing is to do it oneself! Cheers!

Did your backlight work before you put the new LCD in? If so, you may not have hooked the backlight on the new LCD to the inverter correctly. The backlight connection is directional, so it won't work if its plugged in backwards.

That is most likely one of two things. First, I would try to replace the LCD video cable. It is the cable that goes through one of the hinges and transfers the video to the LCD. The opening and closing of the screen over time can cause the wires to wear out and short. If that doesn't fix it, than it is probably a problem with the board where the LCD cable plugs into the LCD. That will require purchasing a new LCD. I would try the LCD cable first because it is quite a lot cheaper than a a new LCD

Thanks for your reply. I ran Furmark for a little over 4 mins. Took my GPU's temp upto 98 degrees! The test was running at only 4fps but my external display still works fine. So it definitely is the LCD that's gone wrong. Do you think its worth replacing the LCD on a 3-4 year old laptop?
