We have these in England, I recently filmed one on a grass verge. So, one ticked off my bucket list, but I've never heared their call before. So, now I know, great job. 👍

That bird is one funny character. The feathers on top of his head are cute.

I heard a lapwing fly over my house near Manchester city centre in England last night !

That's a good one! Fairly late migrant I guess. On its way to Scotland maybe?

I saw 3 yesterday down in the river valley flood plain feeding. They are more numerous in the Derbyshire hills about 10 miles away.

It the plover looking for something?
@CliveBramham7 жыл бұрын
No, it's not really looking for anything on the ground. It has a nest somewhere in the grass not so far away. Nothing that I could see. I was on the main trail walking by this area, not wanting to disturb anything. The lapwings are very vocal at this time and attract a lot of attention, "dive bombing" people and generally trying to the divert attention of potential interlopers away from the nesting sites and young birds.

Yes, its sound felt urgent to me. It seemed anxious. I'm glad you moved away. Loved the MOOO. It broke my anxiety about the bird!
