They didn't do anything love interest wise, and the girl that was rumored to be a girlfriend seemed to be simply a friend (to Lara/Laura - for now). I felt like there was too much of the guy sidekicks in the show (giving an impression the makers of the anime considered her too weak to handle things without the help of men). It felt like they downplayed her archeology interests (not enough Indiana Jones archeologists in her). The hint at the season 2/ art 2 of her rescuing Sam seemed like they planned to make her more detective (Batman style).
