Lara Fabian has class, clarity, transitions, sustainance of notes without breathing problem. But her emotion is the next level: listen to "Je Suis Malade", "Broken Vow", "Jet'aime", "Caruso". The fact Lara Fabian is fluent in French, Italian, Spanish and English, makes her repertoir incredible. She's also a great songwriter. Adele is a great songwriter, I think her heartfelt relatable lyrics are her reason for success. Vocaly she's way behind Lara Fabian, no doubt.

That version is one of her best renditions of the song. I think every reaction video I’ve watched so far, people keep dropping their jaw whenever Lara starts sustaining the notes. Either mid song or at the end. So fun to watch. 😂 But agree with most comments below: Broken Vow, from the same concert is a most. Not as powerful in the notes, but beautiful melody and lyrics. Je suis malade, live “En toute intimité”. Lara starts speaking the lyrics basically, then sings and then the only musician (the piano) leaves and she finishes the song a capella, without a microphone so to speak, and still fills the concert room with her voice. Intense performance. Perdere l’amorce, from Lara with love concert. Beautiful Italian song cover by Lara. Powerful belts in there too. And Italian language is a plus.

Lara Fabian is a songwriter with a voice, like what she said quite awhile ago. She is an elegance. I did not know anything about Lara until I heard her song sang by one best vocalist Dimash Kudaibergen. She is now my favorite female vocalist and yes, she is underrated. My opinion about the said vocalists is Celine has a beautiful voice with many great qualities. Christina Aguilera doesn't qualify in this realm at all. Lara has an extensively trained voice with many unique belts, superb wind control and great timbre. Celine is a great vocalist and on some notes she and Lara are parallel but they are different types of vocalists. I love both of their styles but I will have to lean toward Lara. She takes a song and almost becomes the person she's singing about. She's wonderful with her deliverance on stage and holds your attention. About her popularity in the US, I remember hearing the one very popular disco/dance song from that cd of the year 2000 named "I Will Love Again" and I could hear notes that reminded me of Celine but all in all, the two ladies are quite different especially in how they deliver their songs. Lara outshines them all there. She gets into the song and is highly demonstrative and emotional when she performs and has the audience's undivided attention throughout her performance. She's a remarkable performer who I never tire from hearing her, though I don't understand some lyrics, the delivery is always there and she's a gem on stage, hands down!!!

anabrissa French here. Lara has been bashed for years in France, even though she’s a close cousin being half Belgian. What is mentioned at the end of the video is spot on. Lara can sustain powerful notes without yelling, but she was called a screamer for years. Go figure. She always had a hardcore fan base nonetheless, but I can see why she’s called underrated, and not only in the US. If you ask a French random person for a big voice singer, you’ll get Celine Dion most of the time I am sure. Why was Lara shadowed by Celine, when they are equally good in their own way and while there is absolutely no rivalry between the two, will remain a mystery to me.

When Lara was starting out she had a contract with the same record company as a Celine Dion, I forget which. Celine Dion's people felt Lara was a threat to Celine, and put pressure on the record company to suppress Lara's success in the same genre, which they did by switching Lara to dance music. That's one reason why she is not nearly as famous as Celine Dion is, although I think she's much better.

Hello my friend ! Allow me to tell you some things about this lady and that song . So this gorgeous lady from Belgium sang that song in 1997 in the studio so this live performance should occur around there till 2000 . You mentioned two great voices , Celine Dion and Mariah Carey which both are magnificent in their own style and category but Lara Fabian is technically a highier caliber because she is capable to sing opera which means she was back in the day what is Nicole Scherintzer nowadays ! This demanding song could only be performed by such a DIVA because in order to take that build up , sustain that high tone and switch to half key higher without break for breath in between is almost impossible for 97% of the vocalists we hear today . If you wanna find someone equal now you could only look in one place , Philippines and more specifically two names . Morissette Amon and Katrina Velarde !!!! Oh ...i almost forgot to mention, Lara performs in at least 9 languages !!!!

And I do agree to what others say, She is a total package. Like Mariah Carey she writes her own songs in 4 languages. Her epic performances are universally recognized for its rarity (among musical artists) of being able to become the song and losing herself in the moment while performing it. Aside from the fact that she was the last Diva of the 20th Century, her vocal prowess, technique and song interpretation are perfect. And her creative artistry in her approach in delivering the song is soooooooo insane. Not to mention, her added layering, she has that beauty (gorgeous) and charm, the elegance and class of her personality. Then there is the unexplained, her voice has that subtle power to magnetize and captivate listeners. This part I am still clueless how. Some say it comes from within the core of her being, something profound. If I have a daughter that is into music at an early age, this is the perfect model that I can present for her to become.

I have a soft spot for this Lebanese singer. She sings the role of Esterella in the musical" Notre Dame de Paris" for the moment and she sings in French and English too. You are the first person on you tube I have heard referring to Hiba Tawaji. I agree she is very under-rated. I am a huge fan of Lara Fabian 's voice. Hiba Tawaji is by far the best "other" singer I have heard. She has a rich, resonant voice. She is technically excellent, andvery expressive. I have not yet heard this ( I shall) but know her from listening to her covers of French songs. Her cover of Avec Le Temps by Leo Ferre is probably the only good cover and she did a great job on Jacques Brel's Ne Me Quitte Pas (unfortunately the completely insensitive over-the-top full orchestral interlude pretty much ruined the concert performance). I love this woman and it is a shame she is not better known outside Lebanon. She should get more out there in Europe.. p.s. How is it that Lebanon produces so many great singers?

My opinion: I believe Hiba's relative lack of success in Europe has been partly due to her recycling ( but she does them well) of mostly "old" material, to prosaic poppy beats. Lara not only sings but also writes and sometimes composes. Apart from her own "classic" songs like Adagio, she ceaselessly innovates and takes artistic risks ( for example "Le Secret" and Madamoiselle Zhivago albums). I feel that Hiba's management could do more to get her known outside Lebanon ( as she deserves) by encouraging her to be more innovative. I think her "Al Rabih Al Arabi" is the sort of thing she should be doing more of. It reminds me of the tones ( and lyric importance) of Lara Fabian's Madamoiselle Zhivago's songs.
