The conductor who is introducing her is … John Williams. Yes the famous composer of Stevem Spielberg’s movies and Star wars. She was here initially to perform “For Always”, in duet with Josh Groban. I was told Barbra herself was supposed to sing Evergreen at this event. And she could not come at the last minute. So Lara replaced her: she is a big fan and knows Barbra’s catalog by heart. I have never seen a singer before whose breathing needs to be registered as a weapon. She conveys emotion without even trying, and of course having the Boston Pops and John Williams doing the backing track is not a bad thing either. Her Yentl medley is well worth hearing, as is Barbra's version of this, which I love...not as much as this version, but so it goes.

She's one of few who can do such classics justice. This is the theme from Barbra's 1976 "A Starr is Born". Music by Barbra, lyrics by Paul Williams.
