Regarding the second rendition, Lara was facing hard times , both on the personal (health, love betrayal and breakup) and professional (her progress blocked in the US by her own record company) sides. Her fanbase knew most of it and wanted to show support and they used this song, one of her biggest hits in France, replacing the title” Je t’aime / I love you” by “On t’aime / We love you”. I love how Lara, after the initial surprise, establishes a beautiful dialog with the crowd, giving them room to sing with her. It shows how benevolent and humble she is. The song itself is a gem, it was as I said one of her songs that reached the top 10 in France charts. But it even grew bigger after it and has become now a french classic, her most iconic french song. It is still attracting a lot of covers from the young french and canadian vocalists generation (Amir, Jeck, …). Most frenchmen know the song by heart. Surprisingly, it was also a massive success in russia and eastern europe: she became a superstar there thanks to it (and 15 years before her lengthy collaboration with Igor Krutoy that extended this even further) and the song is a MUST in russian karaoke and a recurrent in russian singer contests. Again many covers of this songs from eastern europe talents: Polina Gagarina, Sevara Nazarkhan, Katerina Maslova, Natalia Tsarikova, … As always with her biggest hits, Lara has performed it in many different ways: • Intense and powerful at World Music Awards 1999, • Subtle and delicate in her En Toute Intimité 2003 tour. • Classy and moving, performing with 2 vertebrae broken, at Royal Albert Hall in London (2011) • Jazzy in a recent perf (2018) with a band from Quebec The lyrics are also mesmerizing. Despite the title, it is not a classic love song but a breakup song instead. “Je t’aime” was written by Lara Fabian and Rick Allison, her longtime music producer and composer. He also had been her boyfriend for a few years, at the start of her career. This song was written when their love evolved to a friendship and a professional relationship . It speaks about a couple splitting while still having a lot of sentiments one for the other.

I thought they simply sang it because they do love her, but knowing she was facing hard times, it is even more powerful. Such support is even stronger than just love. Love and support do go hand in hand, but they are not always one and the same thing...

Despite the title, this is in fact a love breakup song, but where ex-lovers still have a lot of sentiments one for the other. Here is a translation of the lyrics: Fine, there where1 Other ways to separate Some glass splinters May have helped us In this bitter silence I decided to forgive The mistakes we might make When we are loving too much Fine, the little girl In me often demanded you Almost like a mother You tucked me up, protected me I've stolen from you that blood The one that we should not have shared Out of words and dreams I want to scream Refrain: I love you, I love you Like a madman, like a soldier Like a movie star I love you, I love you Like a wolf, like a king Like a man who's not me You see, i love you that way Fine, I trusted you All my smiles, all my secrets Even those which only a brother Is the secret guardian of In this house made of stone Devil was watching us while we were dancing i wanted so much the war Of our bodies, who were in peace Refrain: I love you, i love you Like a madman, like a soldier Like a movie star I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you Like a wolf, like a king Like a man who's not me You see, i love you that way You see, I love you that way

Wow, such a beautiful reaction! Lara herself said more than once that she was in a very dark place at that time, even contemplating/planning suicide. People knew she was having a hard time, as the french press was very openly cruel with her in multiple ocasions for really nonsense reasons, but I don't think her fans were fully aware at that moment that their demonstration of love was helping to save her life, and I think that's just beautiful. It shows how trully important is to show love to others, as we never know how much someone might need it.

Here, in the first one, she intermittently seems to direct where she sings "je'taime" to the person in the story as well as to the audience. However, towards the end she was very much into the emotional state dictated by the story...a stunning raw performance. 👌⭐🌹♥️ I the second, the involvement of the audience clearly and greatly affected her performance...the audience drawing attention to themselves, wishing and wanting to become intimate with her as their beloved artist and so,... She fulfilled their wish by responding perfectly to their outcry. ...romancing their love for each other. It all happened in Paris, the city known for love and romance. ...giving the world THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LOVESTORY IN SONG! ❤⭐ Thank you for your reaction reaction. Not only is this a touching reaction but also one revealing part of the true artistry of Lara as a performing artist. Love you.❤

Thank you so much, Gregory! ❤ Listening for the first time, in the first one I felt she was only singing to the person in the story, but you're right, she does direct it at the audience as well. I must have seen it more than 100 times, and all the times I end up with wet eyes and sometimes tears running over my face. It is so captivating. Every moment is great on the second one, but my favorite is when she stands up. It's like she is a phoenix rising from her ashes. Thank you so much for your heartfelt reactions to both versions. I love the first version; I worship the second one. In the first version Lara exhibits her unsurpassed talents, confirming yet again that she is the best singer in the history of recorded music. In the second version she bares her soul, and what an exquisitely beautiful and gentle soul it is!. Her humility, her delicacy, her transparency, and her ability to accept and return love are all on full display and are unbelievably captivating. Her facial expressions are achingly beautiful; I'd could easily watch a muted version of the video just to see look at those again. This is hands down the tenderest moment on stage ever filmed. I'm not at all surprised that Lara is on record naming this performance as her favorite in her entire career. I've probably watched it close to 150 times since discovering Ms. Fabian by accident about a year ago, and it never fails to make me wet-eyed and choked up. Another youtube commenter once wrote of this performance, aptly: "I don't think I've ever seen a women make to love to 5000 people at once." You could call it a broken performance, since Lara is at times too emotional to sing. But like kintsugi, the cracks have been mended with gold, and the result is even more beautiful than it would have if unbroken. If you watch careful you will see backup singers sitting silently at the rear of the sage. These women wisely chose not to intervene in Lara's lovely dialogue with the audience. The musicians were fabulous, and even the camera work is sensational. The moment where she stands regally at the edge of the stage, and the camera pulls back to reveal her adoring crowd is magical!

Wow! Best comment ever! 👏🏻 That was such a great analogy: “A woman making love to 5.000 people at the same time.” And, yet, she manages to make each one of them feel special. The way Lara is able to establish such intimacy with the audience is mesmerising. She never fails to leave me in awe. 🙌🏻

@@raquelra5878 Thanks! It is incredible how you feel Lara is singing directly to you, even when watching a 24 year old performance on a iPhone. I felt exactly the same way watching her through binoculars when I flew to Ottawa last month to see her perform. Have you listened to Lara cover "I Will Always Love You?" Whitney Houston's version certainly deserves its iconic status, but Lara sings her version directly to you in a way that Whitney is too private to pull off. Whitney is majestic; Lara is intimate.

Finally I find out the complete song! It's about ready, when you finish the reaction, to make the comment: "No no, this is not the most emotional one! You have to do another one! Anyway! Between despite and my ignorance of English... I think you have defined it very well, it has been the most precious gift from the public for an artist: Respect and admiration; returning love to a song that deserves be among the greats. By the way, speaking of greats, I don't know if they are on your list: Morissette Amon, Sohyang and Kz Tandingan... to give you some examples. I've seen you react to Angelina Jordan and Diana Ankudinova. In any case, when you enter one of them, with your permission I will suggest lesser-known songs that are a delicacy for an exquisite palate like yours. Thank you.

Oh, I read this comment multiple times, simply because it made my day! Thank you so much! ❤ For so many reasons: 1. Thank you for trusting my reaction enough to dive in with eyes closed! 2. Gotcha with the second reaction in this double - so happy it worked. 😂 3. Gotcha again! I have not yet reacted to Angelina Jordan - she keeps losing the polls in community, but something new by her will come up and maybe win. Or I'll just add her out of the blue, when I catch my breath @rlew49ers also mentioned Morissette Amon, and even though my queue is full to the brim, I have an idea that I will put to the poll again that might give some less prominent artists on this channel or anywhere really more of chance than the polls so far have. My Dear Aleks, I hope you don’t get me wrong, but it was a pleasure to watch you crying 🙌🏻 But, seriously, it was a beautiful reaction and you were supposed to cry anyway… There’s really something about Lara that makes her unique: the way she conveys emotion. Aside from having an incredible technique (her breath control is really something else and she’s a master when easily travelling through high and low notes), she’s unafraid to take risks by being emotionally involved with the song and the audience in a very real and intimate way. It’s impossible to avoid being dragged in… I simply love how unapologetically emotional she is and one of the many things that fascinates me about her is how she can seem so powerful and vulnerable at the same time… how she manages to be such a relatable goddess. 🤎 Lara and her fans definitely have such a special bond! It’s a reciprocal love for sure. Thank you so much for accepting my suggestion! ❤️
