This moment in time is so wonderful..This is what Lara is all about. For me she is the most wonderful voice of her generation. She is masterclass and beyond. Lara was facing hard times , both on the personal (health, love betrayal and breakup) and professional (her progress blocked in the US by her own record company) sides. Her fanbase knew most of it and wanted to show support and they used this song, one of her biggest hits in France, replacing the title” Je t’aime / I love you” by “On t’aime / We love you”. I love how Lara, after the initial surprise, establishes a beautiful dialog with the crowd, giving them room to sing with her. It shows how benevolent and humble she is. The song itself is a gem, it was as I said one of her songs that reached the top 10 in France charts. But it even grew bigger after it and has become now a french classic, her most iconic french song. It is still attracting a lot of covers from the young french and canadian vocalists generation (Amir, Jeck, …). Most frenchmen know the song by heart. Surprisingly, it was also a massive success in russia and eastern europe: she became a superstar there thanks to it (and 15 years before her lengthy collaboration with Igor Krutoy that extended this even further) and the song is a MUST in russian karaoke and a recurrent in russian singer contests. It has many beautiful songs including Je Suis Malade, Adagio,Love By Grace, You Are Not From Here, Pedere L'amore, Curuso, Broken Vow, I Will Love Again, l Am Who I Am. I *highly* recommend you watch "Broken Vow" on your Lara journey - it's another example of how beautiful and clear Lara's voice is, and how heartfelt and emotional her performances are - she gives 110% while singing/telling the story in her songs, and her live version from the amazing "From Lara With Love" concert / evening (again, sang from the heart, about her real-life heartbreak and betrayal), is absolutely stunning.... Two of my absolute favourites from her, and Lara's STILL got it - her latest single / collaboration, "Ta Peine", is a (sadly very short playtime), but hauntingly beautiful track, again inspired by events in her own life, and in particular her partner's sacrifices. Lara's "Je Suis Malade" cover, from the same event, is an emotional performance too - and I absolutely love her storytelling in it, even if I'm really not keen on the original artist's version... Lara, to me, is the best vocalist ever! Je’suis Malade is the absolute live performance! Apparently during this time, she and her ex split up and his BF is the piano player. She didn’t want to do this concert. However, the piano player insisted. He knew it could get her out of her funk. Only for this to happen! I absolutely love Lara Fabian.
