This is the correct melodious voice of Lata from the 1950's through 1960's. But all her songs after mid-1970's were loud and shrill. She blamed this change in her voice tone on music directors who asked her to sing at a very high pitch voice. If you observe carefully, her voice in this song in this video versus 1980's onwards, there is a huge difference. I loved her soft mellifluous voice from the early days. God bless her soul

I heard this song (from a tape recorder) first time in Balangir (Odisha) in the year 1991 while sipping a tea at a roadside tea stall nearby Ram Mandir (daily market). It is still my favorite song and...I recall my funny days in BALANGIR where my career started with a fresh appointment as an Engineer. A beautiful place with beautiful people.
