Curious, do you sharpen your own tools for this as well, or send them out to be sharpened?

I sharpen my own tools I have a oneway jig but from my machinist background I do hand sharpen. I always sharpen my drill bits

How do,you know how far to go without going all the way through???

I use a ruler I know how deep the recess is on the bottom minus the height of the bowl equals bottom thickness. Not to mention the sound changes S it gets thinner. And on the sides I just keep checking with my fingers. When you turn yo can kinda see where the tool is in relation to the outside edge of thebowl
