Great video thanks for the info. Back in November 2019 I had an EMG and was diagnosed with bilateral cubital tunnel. Its not fun dealing with the numbness/weakness in my hands, very frustrating. After months of physical therapy, my doctor finally recommended surgery right before Covid-19 hit. Now outpatient centers are starting to re-open, I'm waiting for my doctor to schedule surgery. Over the past few months my hands have become weaker with noticeable muscle atrophy and my pinky/ring finger dropping. After surgery did you regain full strength in your hands?
@TheBoardWoodworker4 жыл бұрын
Yes i did regain the strength and i did get alot less numbness in my arm but I do still have numbness in my hand but full use and strength is back

Did you have any rehab??? My husband is getting this done. He had ulnar nerve surgery about 20 years ago and now he need this done. It is set for Jan 20 and we wonder how long before he could drive the motorcycle again
@TheBoardWoodworker3 жыл бұрын
Your fine motor skills take some time to get back but it is more the strength he needs to rebuild to be able to control.the motorcycle. Grip is a big part of it too but it is all case by case 9n the recovery. I had both arms done and my second surgery no therapy the first surgery was 6 weeks and the same for my wife that had this done about 6 months ago

I was in a rear end car accident in January 2020. From that car accident I had pain in my right wrist right away. I was going to PT until the beginning of March when COVID was getting bad. Around August/September 2020 I got new symptoms which was numbness and tingling in my pinky and ring finger. Originally I was just seeing a general orthopedic doctor. My sister who is a doctor suggested I looked for a wrist specialist doctor. I tried all of the conservative methods first. PT, prescriptions, wearing a brace, cortisone injection, but nothing was helping with the pain. So on December 1st 2020 I got TFCC repair, debridement and Cubital Tunnel Release. The Cubital Tunnel Release was supposed to help with the numbness and tingling symptoms. Recovery was discouraging at the beginning for me, but eventually recovery was starting to look up, unfortunately I randomly hit a bump in my recovery. My wrist started hurting more again and now bending my elbow was causing pain and irritation which wasn’t happening before. In October I had a follow up and we did another cortisone injection into my wrist. I hit the 1 year mark in the beginning of this month. Last Thursday December 9th I had my follow up appointment. The cortisone injection was basically being used for diagnostic testing. Unfortunately the cortisone injection provided me no relief. The doctor told me that since the cortisone injection provided me with no relief then the cause of my symptoms are probably caused by my elbow nerve. He did say that the next step would be to transport the ulnar nerve to another area in the muscle so it’s not in the elbow. He did say that this surgery is normally standard procedure. Though we also have to keep in mind that the cubital tunnel release didn’t help me with my symptoms so apparently that is rare. I am scared of getting another surgery and it wind up not being successful or worth it. I do want to feel better and I would like my right arm to feel like itself again. I haven’t officially scheduled my surgery yet, but my doctor did advise me that I shouldn’t leave it past February/March.

they moved your funny bone? I'm not saying you're wrong but are you sure about that? could be a different procedure but i thought they generally cut the muscle and put the nerve underneath then sutured the muscle back together.
@TheBoardWoodworker2 жыл бұрын
They do create a flap not so much as a pocket that creates a new glide pad for the nerve. You are correct that they do put under a muscle but not as much as you think.

@@jennifertrejo7109 due to the possibility of infection I don't stray from the getting it wet guidelines there are too many complications. I just wrap it really well. I had it done in both arms at different times my left arm still gas some numbness on the pinky and ring finger. The numbness i have is almost not even numb but maybe more of less sensitive. For me it was a great trade off compared to before surgery.
