I used to shop at Ralph's too because it was the closets one to my house in California, they can be pricey. BJ's is a Blessing for sure. The secret is to have a list with the big box stores, I didn't this go around, but next time I'll show up prepared. Shelby

If you joined you will get a coupon book every month. Plus there is usually a rack at the entrance with coupon flyers as well. Also they don't have some things all the time. Spedie sauce is AMAZING.

I was impressed with BJ's and the bonus is its located across the street from ALdi's. I'm just going to have to take the drive each week because the savings are too great. Sam's is 45 min away on a good day! But we have 5 grocery stores within 5 miles, so we do get some descent sales and yes, I shop them all. Those weekly ads do help! Trying menu planning with a seasonal fruit & veggies ( thanks for the tip). Hi ya Ken! I think it's great you shop together! Gonna try a hassleback turkey breast with southern cornbread dressing for TG this year!

We only have BJ's here but Costco is only less than an hour from here. I have learned throughout the years that if I'm checking out a store always bring that list. If the prices are good then we'll buy.

Make sure to use in house coupons! You can double those up with manufacturer’s coupons, also. I think many of the items you bought had a coupon in the latest booklet. Tfs!

Nice. I would say Costco is the biggest box store that is the closest to me, and it is still a three hour drive. It's a necessitie for me to stock up month's at a time. Like you I am. Thank you for sharing. You and Ken take care:)

So glad you found this blessing. We belong to both Costco and BJ's. Costoc only 20 minutes, our blessing. Bjs like 40 but we go anyway. BJ's had much more familiar brands than Costco, and yup and wonderful Gruerye. Only place I can find a good price on it also. Oh and thanks I'm gonna head to Bjs today and grab an .89 a pound turkey like you got, I want to try a turkey recipe before the big day.

Bj's had a great cheese selection, I was surprised. Beth they had a sign saying you could get 2 turkeys. I picked up the two, trying to get the smallest ones they had for the freezer. I want to do one before Thanksgiving too. SHelby

We don't have any of the big stores around us either! Our grocery store, Wegmans is extremely expensive and of coarse my favorite store ever! About 45 minutes away is a Sams club, an hour and a half is a BJs and I just hate to make the trip! Thank you for sharing yalls groceries!!! Xoxo Angela

Angela I dream of going to Wegman's hahahaha I think it would be like Gelson's Market. Not to buy much, more to people watch. When Ken and I went to Santa Barbara we went to Gelson's, there is one in Palm Springs too. I was amazed that the shoppers were just doing their "regular" grocery shopping because everything was soooooo expensive. They even had a wine tasting station in the store hahahah. I have been wanting to get to Albany to go to Whole Foods (I buy their canola oil in bulk because it is GMO free) and I'm curious if their prices went down after Amazon bought them out? When we go to Albany I try to hit Trader Joe's, Asian Market, Mexican Market, Italian Market, Sam's etc but it is exhausting, yes we are getting OLD. hahahaa Ken said next big Albany shopping trip we are going to go and spend the night, and then do the shopping to break it up. Hopefully we will go sometime in December before winter really sets in. I'm tired just thinking about it hahahah Love SHelby

TheQueensCabinet I love our Wegmans! It is super expensive but I have to eat gluten free and their selection is the best around. Aldi has a nice selection too but I find our Wegmans is the best around! That's a fab idea to stay over and shop!! Albany is beautiful! My best friend lived there for a few years with her husband! If y'all are ever in the Western part of NY our door is always open!

We have Freihofer's in Western Mass.I like their bread. We pay about $3.70 for a gallon of store brand whole milk-I see it so much cheaper in other hauls. Same with eggs-about $2.50 plus a dozen-store brand. Can't figure out why. Great haul!

I love BJ's and they have coupon books that they send out monthly. If you don't get one you can ask for it at customer service which is great. Just a small tip since your new to them.

Thanks Barb. I wrote it down on my list to show you how to freeze liquids in the food saver. You are going to LOVE compound butters, because they don't waste the fresh herbs and they are so convenient. I love the garlic compound butter for making garlic bread, shrimp scampi ect. All the work is done on the front end....Shelby

Chiavetta's barbeque marinade is a good non-tomato based chicken marinade too, if it's available in your area. We have it in Western NY stores. I prefer it to the one you bought at BJs.

Great haul!! We don't have BJ's here on the West Coast but I've seen many videos and heard a lot of good things about it!! I shop Costco and Sam's but I don't go very often because it's so easy (for me) to over spend! I really try to go with a detailed list but it never fails that I find one or several new things to try when I'm there!! :)

Yes!! I stock up on Torani Syrup for coffee, tea and shaved ice! My husband makes cinnamon rolls for Christmas to give to employees/coworkers, friends, neighbors and family (lots and lots of cinnamon rolls) so I love to get the big mixing bowls and the large cookie sheets. We have a new one that opened this year and they have a great bakery and their produce always looks really nice!!

Awe thank you for the kind words. I just love our group here! We had a Smith's that I used to shop at in California, I always loved their produce, it was so sad when they closed that store. I also miss Honeyville where I bought baking goods in bulk. Now it is even more important for us to stock up, because we have such a distance to drive. Kayleigh I guess it depends on where you shop, it seems the prices can vary so much. Ken and I moved from California where the produce was so inexpensive and good quality and meat prices were high. Now in NY the produce is high and meat/dairy seems more reasonable. We live in a small village so our grocery store charges more, kind of like the UK. We try and stock up the pantry and freezer when we go to the city. :D Shelby

Thank you. I think I will be shopping more and more at Aldi's, it is right across the street from BJ's. I told Ken I would most likely just shop the lost leaders at Price Chopper and Tops (which is halfway to BJ's). My stock up item this week is Turkey Breasts, that way I can cook them for sandwiches and they are on sale for 99 cents a pound. I see next week Tops has whole Turkey on sale for 48 cents a pound, I'd like to get maybe three small ones for the freezer. :D Shelby

My kids love turkey breast roasted in the oven and sliced for sandwiches. I always stock up on turkeys during the holidays when they are on sale. It's a sad day when we open our last package of frozen sliced turkey breast. A couple years ago, I started making turkey noodle soup the day after Thanksgiving, cooking the turkey bones in the crock-pot overnight. After a long day of shopping on Black Friday, I love coming home and finishing up a simple soup!

BJs and Costco are closer to me in Florida but I grew up in NY going to BJs so when I moved down here I stuck with BJs. I’ve been to Costco a few times but I always find what I’m looking for at BJs and that’s not the case for me with Costco.

That is so expensive. In 2010 Ken and I read articles in Forbes magazine and Money magazine both talking about how food prices would quadruple in the next 20 years. I thought it was crazy. They sited population growth, emerging economies, global warming (with every increased degree of temperature, food production is decreased by 10%), and water shortages. Recently, we saw a TED speaker talk about the enormous global caloric shortage in ten years; China, Africa and India are going to be in dire straights. Elsewhere, food prices will soar. Never in my lifetime did i expect to see food scarcity on such a large scale. Shelby

I’m in brooklyn NY so the price difference is very expensive I prefer Costco over bjs for me bjs in brooklyn a case of Poland spring water is 7.49 plus bottle deposit but at Costco it’s a few dollars cheaper and I wish sams club was here I know it’s in jersey and looking on their web site they have really good prices too but I do know and realize per area of where you are the prices of any store will always be different love your hauls and your food and recipes thanks for sharing

Great haul Shelby! glad you guys finally have a big box store that is at a reasonable distance! It seems like the best of Costco, Commissary and Sam's/Walmart rolled into one store! You two found some great deals! We never made it into BJ's it was about 45 mins away, when we were in NC, there was no Costco and even Sams as well as Commissary (which was often cleaned out!) was over 1 hour, local stores crazy prices so I lived for coupons! Here we live in a Small town just a small market crazy prices (like Hawaii prices for milk prices)Commissary is great for the few boxed items we get, but big box is our go to as it is really hard to beat those prices or quality of produce or meats, plus with Ibotta I save even more! I am 😂 about the "Kenny got those" I can totally imagine an 🙄 from Shelby right then! Really wish you all positive thoughts and 🙏for your procedures. Many Blessings to you two and the family

Erika thank you so much, when you turn 50 you get rewarded with a colonoscopy. LOL I'm five years overdue, Ken said he would do it with me. Now that is true love on a whole different level. I keep thinking of ways to cancel, he isn't having it. TMI I know, but I thought you might get a giggle. Kenny is like a kid, in the grocery store I turn my back and don't realize he keeps adding things to the cart until I'm in the check out line and he throws me that little grin of his. Derek is the same way, gosh, I go shopping an have a mission, sure my head is on a swivel to see if there is something I didn't think of or know they carried or seasonal, but Derek, he wanders off and I turn my back to grab something and poof 5 new things appear in the cart! 😂 Even worse if he offers to pick up something at the store on his way home! He'll come home with 2 bags of lawrd knows what and totally forget what he was supposed to pick up! lol😆 Yeah, I think Ken wants to keep you around for a while and that is true love! (awesome points to Ken) You two might be starting a trend Couples Colonoscopies! lol. it's 💩procedure but we need to do doo it (sorry I just had to)! lol You would think this day and age they would have an easier and less intrusive way of doing things, sheesh, bad enough we have to also get Mamograms and annuals(at least buy a gal dinner!!)! lol I feel ya darlin, I think it's also the Nurse in us that hates being in the gurney, let alone a procedure! WOW I didn’t realize you were a hour or more away from a store..I would love to live that way!!! We have a freakin store on every corner Walmart Sam’s Aldi’s everywhere....I love to stock even though it’s just Kevin and me It has saved us a many a time when something unexpected comes up!! We live on about 800.00 - 900.00 a month which is about 200-225.00 a week..This include our 6 four legged kids food and snacks too!! Which they don’t get a lot of snacks just things to clean there teeth and such..I’ve never heard of BJ’s will look that up..Wanted to tell you I have someone coming out every night this week except Weds and Thurs for the Kitchen Cabinets...I’m not wanting the floors done or any real major electrical or plumbing done So I’m praying we can get this done maybe at the Max 15k...We found out the company that did our siding on our home also does Kitchen Cabinets So the owner will be out Friday to talk to us..I’m also praying that this time of the year is a good time to get maybe a break in price to keep workers working🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻...I told Kevin if he said a good price to do thru the Holidays We are eating Holidays out!!! Jessica the Butterball turkeys were 89 cents a pound and they said you could get two, I'm sorry I didn't notice the ham prices. They did have two coupon books at customer service too, there was a lot of coupons in each of the books. I noticed a separate coupon flyer as you walked in the store too. Shelby

Melissa we have a household of 10, and cook just about every meal at home. We live over 2 hours from Costco and an hour 15 minutes from Sams, so when we go we stock up a few times a year. I especially try and get stocked up before winter sets in, because the drive takes even longer. We have one grocery store in our town and it tends to be very expensive. Shelby

TheQueensCabinet Ahh I see. Yeah me and the hubs are both disabled and live in the mountains. We get snowed in 6 months out of the year. We shop once a month bc stores are 2 hours away. Local store is crazy expensive as well. Love your videos. I've started canning 2 weeks ago for the first time. We've saved over $240.00 so far. Looking forward to more videos from you.
