Instead of scoring with a knife, use a kitchen scissors!
@fredsodyssey63192 жыл бұрын
Please invest in a really good set of knives. They are one of the most important tools in your kitchen! Good quality knives can be expensive, but they are worth every penny. The best sets even have lifetime guarantees. If cost is a worry, you can invest in one knife at a time, until you have a full set. You can google which knives are the best quality online. Always hand wash your knives, dry them right away and keep them sharp. I enjoy watching your videos, but your knife usage is very distracting and sometimes downright scary. There are certain knives that work best for certain jobs. Using the wrong knife or a dull knife can be dangerous! (Like using a saw to hammer a nail.) Also, there are a number of good videos on KZbin on how to PROPERLY hold your knives, when cutting. As someone who went through culinary school, I would encourage you strongly to learn how to properly hold and cut with your knives. It takes practice, but once you get in the habit of holding your knives properly, you will find you have better control of your tool, using them more efficiently and will reduce kitchen accidents. I know you are a home cook, but you are also a home and food vlogger. If this is something you are serious about doing, then you need to learn how to hold your knives and how to set an example for you viewers...and your children. If fact, everyone should learn how to hold knives in a proper and safe way to avoid serious accidents in the kitchen. Please listen to and heed my advice. Best wishes.

She is not pretending to be a professional chef, she is sharing what she cooks for her family. If I wanted to know how to use a knife like a professional or what knife to buy I would do a search on that topic. I use my knives in the same way, at 78 yrs I have only cut myself once and that was using a newly sharpened knife. The cut was minor needing no medical intervention. With a large family I doubt she has money to invest in such a knife.
@homeschoollifemom2 жыл бұрын
Funny I was thinking how good her knife must be the way it sliced right through that tomato without even being a serrated edge. She held her knife and cut things like any other person would.
@fredsodyssey63192 жыл бұрын
@@tassiegirl1991 I knew someone would get all defensive about my comment; however, this was not meant to be a criticism or an attack on Laura. It was meant to help her. I actually enjoy seeing her posts and I appreciate that she tries really hard to make healthy meals from scratch for her family. I understand that Laura is a home cook, but she is also putting herself out there on a KZbin channel and I wanted to help her improve her skills, so she can set a good example for her viewers and work safer. I don't feel I said anything that was out of line. These are things that vloggers need to think about. I'm sure Laura appreciates helpful suggestions, which is why I bothered to write to her. As for investing in quality kitchen tools, it's a matter of priorities. I see that Laura invests in nicer pots and pans. I applaud her for that. I suggested she buy knives one at a time, as she can afford them. A good knife can be bought for under $100. When I was first married, I slowly upgraded my kitchen tools as I could afford it. I also had a large family to raise, so I am sympathetic to money constraints. I wish only good things for Laura and success for her channel, which was why I bothered to write. If I didn't care, I would not have bothered.
