The real Grim Reapers name is Thanatos. Others are Hel, La Muerte, Psychopomp or Shinigami. I sme beliefs, a grim reaper can cause someone's death by appearing while the sleeper's body is nt able to mve and soon dies of a heart attack

The Grim Reaper was seen as a collector of souls, the messenger of the dead and most important of every guide that came to all mortals. It was not the Grim Reaper's place to judge souls, nor was it the entity's role to aid or hinder mortal affairs.The Grim Reaper is a spectral entity that is believed to be a manifestation of death. The Reaper is not tasked to kill mortals, but merely ferry their souls to the afterlife.The Grim Reaper is the personification of death itself. Much like Mother Nature or Father Time, Death doesn't have any real morality, because it's an abstraction. The scythe is just a symbol of death, it never is used for harm as all it does is reap souls. Been there done that one one of these parts and will prob do it again! Thanks Kay!

The Grim Reaper is very popular on Halloween, but he also figures prominently in historical tales and popular culture throughout the year. A quote from Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey movie - "You may be a King or a little street sweeper, but sooner or later, you dance with the Reaper"

The Grim Reaper is depicted as a male figure that collects an individual and first arrived during the black plague, but in Irish folklore is better known as the Banshee that warns of impending death of a love one. Beyond both of these well-known folklore I know of another that has happened twice within my actual known grandmothers...The Black Widow paced back and forth on the front porch coming to collect two of my grandfather's.

The Grim Reaper seems to have appeared in Europe during the 14th century. It was during this time that Europe was dealing with what was then the world’s worst pandemic, the Black Death, believed to be the result of the plague. Kay, I love all your tutorials :)

In his hand, the Reaper carries a scythe to harvest souls at the end of life. The specter might also carry an hourglass, which he uses to measure the amount of time left in a life.

"Grim reaper,” first use of the term was in a 1847 text called "Circle of Human Life." It was the Rev. Robert Menzies who wrote, "All know full well that life cannot last above seventy, or at the most eighty years. If we reach that term without meeting the grim reaper with his scythe, there or there about, meet him we surely shall."

How you would dissolve the fabric with water when you trim the join up? Don't forget you aren't just removing the stabilizer you are trimming the fabric away from the stitch line too. I hope this helps. Happy stitching 😊

This is adorable 🤩 The Grim Reaper was also known as Black death ☠ ☠ and really only came into use during the Black Plague. I think that was like mid 14th or 15th Century haha, was never very good at history lol. I think that's where the term Black Death came from and the scythe I think was just symbolic for harvesting souls, like harvesting wheat. :)

But why the skeletal figure? Why the scythe? Why the robe? Skeletons are symbolic of death, representing the human body after it has decayed. The robe is thought to be reminiscent of the robes that religious figures of the time wore when conducting funerary services.

What does the Grim Reaper do to your soul? Grim Reaper | Monster Wiki | Fandom Death is a fundamental part of life and it is the Grim Reaper's duty to claim the souls of the deceased so as to maintain the balance of nature. The Reaper does not "kill" mortals, but merely guides their spirits to the next realm and it is not their place to judge souls or determine what will become of them.

He is known by many names including Thanatos, the Greek god of death. The scythe was likely added during the 14th century when plague meant he was collecting in the dead much like a farmer cuts through the grain in the fields. However, the scythe may also be from the Greek god Cronus who carried a sickle, and who was Father Time. The cloaked figure is also reminiscent of the Plague Doctors of the 16th and 17th centuries. So it seems the Grim Reaper is an amalgamation created over time😸
@martinav.robakowsky1765
@martinav.robakowsky1765 Жыл бұрын
The soul or life of a person is harvested at his death. The sickle of death in the Grim Reaper thus represents the instrument with which the thread of life is cut and life is ended. It also represents the end of life for everyone, beggar and king alike. Death makes no distinction in the harvesting of souls. This shows the medieval idea that in death all people are equal.

With this scythe, the Reaper severs the soul's last ties to life and grants the soul safe passage to the afterlife. The Grim Reaper has often - falsely - been depicted as an evil spirit that preys on mortals. In truth, however, they are neither evil nor good, merely a force of nature and order.
