Just got to the bottom of my weird vertical lines issue on my Mars Pro printer. As someone who tends to print larger, I started seeing more and more of these unwanted vertical lines and just thought I'd explain what they are and why these are budget printers. I wasn't aware of this before my purchase so I thought I would go into it a bit for the unaware. Basically if you are printing large smooth objects you're gonna need to sand them.

I think it's more of an exposure setting and not related to the led matrix. I started getting them on my mono 6k when I turned down the UV power as they recommend (to about 50% for transparent resin). I have no issue with my simple mono (that has no UV power control) or after turning up the UV to 80% on the 6k. Also, keep the walls at 3-4mm

No it was the grid issue in manufacturing. They installed the uv array 1.2mm too high. They sent out replacement and an apology months later.

I had the same problem, very annoying. Fixed it with a lift speed decreasing. The print is little bit slower but the result is great.

this shouldn't be a complicated problem for a slicer software developer...... they can calculate the grid size and adjust the blur on those grids... hope the developer aware about this problem...

No its a light issue that causes it. It causes supports to fail.

@@Cloakfiend oh... I see... The line is lack of UV....? You should try Creality Halot series... I have a halot one.. They use integral light, no cross line etc.....

Ive been looking forever on how to fix these lines. Kinda depressing to know you can't. Does any chitubox settings help conceal them more?

@@Cloakfiend Hey, did you ever consider if any of the horizontal lines could be from the things mentioned in this article too? ameralabs.com/blog/10-reasons-for-unexpected-horizontal-lines-on-your-3d-printed-parts/

@@tonyg5132 if you have a mono light source the lines are worse. Not sure about the horizontal lines. I had vertical line issues. In chitubox on mono light source i use blur full and grey at 0. If that helps. I hate the new chitubox. Much prefered the old one.

@@tonyg5132 i think horizontal lines are from zscrew dirt mainly for me or uneven pressure from fep. But i can only analyse the issue if i have it.

Got the same issue with anycubic photon mono x 6k. Your theory sounds very rationally but sadly it means we can't do anything to fix that. Maybe higher UV power setting will affect these lines a bit? I'm running my printer on 60% UV power and these lines are strongly visible

The mars2pro got rid of the grid so its ok and they did release a fix but i still believe large prints may have faint lines but i could be wrong. Diffusion and increaded strength wont help. Its about getting the grid line as invisible as poss. You may need to raise the grid a few mm or lower it. Whatever works!

I made a video about how i sanded internal grid to improve the issue. Try searching for grid lines printing or something.

@@Cloakfiend I noticed that after your previous reply. The results are very good but I'm concerned that I will break something while doing these modifications. Printing a new bracket with thinner grid walls and just replacing the old bracket with the printed one seems to be the best solution for me. By the way I appreciate the time and effort that you have put in resolving this issue and that you are sharing your knowledge and experience. Thanks :)

@@Przymekkyoure welcome! ive spent many hours on this with some people because it really bothered me as i print alot of stuff with smooth surfaces and hated seeing the lines. Its just bad quality control. I printed a new grid as well on my fdm and it was also gine but pla degrades with uv exposute over time to eventuallu you will.need to print a new one. That's suction force on this them sunken blurred lines these will disappear on hollowing and angling and lowering the layer hight! I have had the grid lines print on a large print they print the squares not just lines so this is not the grid lines it's suction to maybe angle or loose streched fep!. Anycubics mono 4k prints the grid same as your cutting mat on larger prints

No it was a print error from the led grid matrix.

I feel they may have qc problems. Email them. I made a vid about sanding down the grid to improve it, but that was on a mars2pro...elegoo eventually admitted they had messed up somewhere and they basically offered the same fix but from the factoy not me sanding anything.

Ah-hah moment! I was wondering why I was seeing vertical lines on my tank parts which are printed vertical; I was puzzled as to why they were vertical lines and not horizontal lines. Now I know.
