Good info. Matte if you need to see his hand turn screw you are missing the point. This is all about using your ears. I will never understand why people feel the need to criticize every little thing someone takes the time and effort to try and help others out and instead of being thankful they have to crap on it.

Gday mate. it is still a good video but to see what he was doing is also important just like the sound. It is also a good idea to tell people what is the high and what is the low needle. specially for people that just start off in the 1/5 scale and tell people that most walbro carbs use the same setting. I did not hear him saying about when you have reset to factory settings after you made a mess of the adjustments,,, how many turns you have to screw it out. that is also very useful for beginners

@Poopdogsays11 жыл бұрын
Sorry to get back so late, but yes you can adjust carb needles on the second tank. With these motors there really isn't a "Break In Period" like there is with a nitro. The tolerances in a nitro motor are much closer than these motors. Run the car around for the first tank at a moderate speed to get the gears in the gearboxes seated in and then go beat the snot out of it! Have fun, PDS.

Hello.. all the way from new Zealand! Awesome video. I've been struggling to tune my Zenoah g320 on my losi 5t. Its already destroyed 2 new plugs and I don't understand why. Car also sounds like shit.. Ive tried to refer back to the factory settings of 1 and half turn and 1 and quarter turn. Car still struggles to start, when it does it sounds like shit, even after adjusting the idle screw. User manual states don't go more than 1/4 turn from factory or engine will damage, I know the turns on the needles are small increments but I still can't seem to get it right.

Good video, I learned to tune two-stroke engines by ear as well. My two comments are: 1) 25:1 fuel ratio NOT 50:1. These engines run at high rpm's, and need plenty of oil. Otherwise you sacrifice how long motor will last. (Two tanks of fuel versus 20 tanks of fuel.) 2) never run a two-stroke engine that lean at full throttle. Unless you plan on immediately doing a top end rebuild, or you are racing and big money is on the line.... That two-stroke engine is not meant to run that lean.

Dylan Shenk where do you have the idle screw set (the big silver screw) sounds like the screw needs to be turned in a bit. Try turning it in 1 full turn, then restart, but make sure the back tires are off the ground so it doesn't take off on you. Or just take the wheels off.

@Poopdogsays9 жыл бұрын
Klemen Bizjak Sorry it's such a late response to your question, but run it richer in the cold and run them leaner in the heat to compensate for the density of the air. The colder it is the more dense the air is and the opposite is true for hot air. Don't be too worried about needle settings because all engines are different and require a slightly different amount of fuel, then there's the temp, humidity, barometric pressure, blah, blah, Listen to the sound of your engine, it will tell you what it wants.

I got one question regarding the fuel, why do you run Kermit on 50/1 ?
@Poopdogsays5 жыл бұрын
Because ive always run 2 strokes at 50:1 anymore oil and it smokes like crazy till it warms up, then any unburnt oil leaks out the exhaust onto my floor. I only use good oils though. I prefer klotz or polaris snowmobile oils.

I've got a king motor 30cc if the power in the servo battery is really low will it start
@Poopdogsays4 жыл бұрын
Yes, but i would either take the wheels off or raise the car up off the ground. The power to fire the spark plug is generated in the coil under the pullstart. You do not need a receiver battery to start the engine, but if the engine starts and you dont have control, the car can take off at 50mph...
@hurdgaming3 жыл бұрын
My idle screw being out of whack will that prevent my RC from running? I can't get it fired up I pulled on it for about an hour trying to just get it fired and nothing.. how many turns out should the idle screw be ??
@Poopdogsays3 жыл бұрын
Start at 1.25 out on both screws, that will allow it to start. Pull the spark plug and check for spark (i have a vid on my channel explaining how to do it) if you get spark, pour a tiny bit of fuel down the plug hole. Reinstall the plug. If it starts, then you have a carb problem. If it doesnt start its an ignition problem.
@Poopdogsays3 жыл бұрын
Turn the big silver screw out until it doesnt touch the throttle lever. Then turn it in until it starts to open the carb. Once it makes contact, give it a half turn or so. Make sure when you go to start the car the wheels are off the ground so it doesnt take off if the idle is too high!

The idle screw is set too low. Adjust it so when you hit the brakes the carb doesn't close. The trim on the transmitter (controller) is not how you set the idle speed. Adjust the big silver screw (idle screw) in until you hear the engine rev slightly, then hit the brakes and see if that solves it.

You need an exhaust. It is next to impossible to get it tuned w/o one. The exhaust works to push the intake charge back into the cylinder and without it the intake charge just sprays out the exhaust port. Google "2-stroke exhaust fundamentals" it will explain the operation of a tuned pipe. Plus w/o a pipe or exhaust of some type the piston will suck in alot of dirt and destroy your piston and head. Put the can back on it.

It should be fine, you can't hurt the motor with too much oil, you just may foul the spark plug more easily. I use racing 2-stroke oil made for dirt bikes. I would NOT use oil that is meant for weed whackers and chainsaws.
