Using what you have is a great way to minimize waste. I appreciate you sharing with us!

I know you get some pushback sometimes when you talk about eating through your food storage, but I just want to offer support and tell you it is SO smart to actually eat what you have. First, that's why you put it there in the first place. To feed your family. Plus, it will give you a better idea of what a year's worth of food actually looks like, what your family enjoys, and what might not be worth canning in the future, and it will make sure the food is consumed and not wasted while it sits for "just in case." My grandfather was a hoarder and he had SO much canned food we had to throw away after he died. His house filled six dumpsters, and it was so sad knowing all of it could have been useful to people if it was consumed while it was still good instead of sitting on shelves for decades. He had cans and bath products from the 1970's. I understand the idea of being prepared, but it also doesn't really do anyone any good for the food to sit on shelves for years without being eaten, so you are being so smart to do this!

You are so right about the positive reasons to focus on consciously eating through our food stocks. The 2020 lockdowns caused a lot of us to begin stockpiling for the first time, and I had conflicting feelings about constantly adding to it while trying to not let anything go bad. Now I'm a year into being an empty nester and it's really been adjustment for me. I'm trying to work through things like canned soups, pastas etc during this year's pantry challenge, and will be eating through my freezers too.,

Love your pantry and freezers...I do this all the time...fill it all up,go for months without buying,I really like starting over with all new fresh supplies...we had a horrible devastating hurricane to hit our state of NC..it didn't hit my area directly even though I live at the beach..So I had a chance to help the the victims who lost everything...Donating most of my pantry...just kept a few items..but I still just using up freezer items...I will shop again in April or May before the summer people come down..Praying your surgery and recovery goes smooth...

So satisfying! It’s smart to have a stocked pantry and freezer while also eating through it. It’s keeping stocked up on things you actually use and making sure you use up the older stuff so you aren’t wasting anything. We are only 2 so don’t need nearly as much but I’m really wanting to build up our storage again. We recently moved and it’s been a long time since we’ve bought meat in bulk but I want to do it again. Praying for a smooth recovery for you. ❤

My downfall is when stuff is on a good sale I buy it. So we are going to do just like yaw are doing. Thank you for the great videos. I look for them each morning to start my day off motivated. GOOD MORNING TIFFANY Hopefully you are Resting & Recovering from Your Surgery. Sending PRAYERS Honey honestly this is how ALL PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE THEIR FOOD PANTRIES. I am 62 & as a child we also ran out of food but always staples too like toilet paper. My mother never did buy enough of anything. I made sure that once I moved out I would always have what my family needed. I don’t call it Prepping I call it our Home General Store. We also only buy Dairy & Produce weekly or as needed. If I don’t have it we don’t need it LOL . Our Black Angus goes to the Butcher the last week of April 2025. Our 2 Hogs go in October 2025 . This has been our schedule for 15 years now. I always get the same cuts makes it so simple for our Butcher & Us. I know when & I can budget the money for this. GOD BLESS from Indiana Farmland

Looks amazing! ❤ Use it all challenge. No jar left behind challenge. 😅 BTW my understanding is that you ideally don't want to stack your home canned products on top of each other because it can give you a false seal. I think I saw several cases stacked on top of each other in the corner.

I now easily eat at home a month at a time! We always ate out 1x a week tell finding this channel! It took time convincing hubby but he's on bored! We are gonna try for 2 months in Feb 1 - April 2nd wish I could just plan for a 1 grocery trip for it but that's a lil much for my brain 😂😂 Maybe if you can't get him to take money for the deer do a service of some sort for him! Baked goods or something of that sort begals, breads or something! ❤❤ Hope your are healing well after surgery!

Having one gluten free family member is such an adjustment. When I do something like pasta I cook regular pasta for most of us and just enough gluten free for my husband. If I make cookies or bread I make regular for us. Since he's only one person I make a recipe for him and freeze extra. It saves us money to just feed the person who needs it the gluten free stuff.

Do you ever get rodents invading your pantry? My pantry used to look like yours. Big mistake. I had family move in and they’d leave food laying around, then they moved out. Rodents moved in. Also, we have wildfires every year and it always brings critters around. We’ve won the battle on rodents, it was hard to do. Now all food is stored in metal, glass or heavy duty totes (Vittle vaults). I wish I’d have listened to seasoned preppers when they warned about pest invasion and buying only what you eat. I could’ve saved myself a lot of wasted money & headache.

I know you recently bought a bunch of chicken but where did you get it from? Was it somewhere local, a chain, a delivery service, etc? My husband hunts and we've bought beef from a farm but I've never found a good local source for chicken. Years ago there was a company I bought 40 lb boxes of chicken from but it no longer exists.
