@Sailing La Vagabonde I'm sure somebody has already mentioned it, but have you guys seen the man overboard system Sailing Zatara recently got and implemented? It triggers an alarm when the bluetooth bracelet goes out of range from the home base. Could be pretty good for peace of mind once Darwin gets moving around and you have to keep track of both of the boys.

Cannot wait to watch Back 2 Basics videos of their experiences in the Bahamas. I really enjoyed Sarah’s vlogs, getting more comfortable in front of the camera. I wouldn’t expect Lenny to any other way, whether it’s sand on the lobster or scribbles on mom’s list, he has been roaring 🦁 at the camera and in life since he as born! 🥰⛵️

ELAYNA! ELAYNA! RE: NO-SEE-UMS! Maybe my 4th message to you guys over the years, whenever I hear your struggles with these pests and lately when I see the bites all over little Lenny and Darwin, I'm sending this message to you again from across the universe in the hopes it reaches you...one day... You need to get/make some roasted coconut oil for the NO-SEE-UMS! My family is from the Caribbean, but I learned this from some Indigenous women in Bastimentos, Panama and it WORKS! All natural and effective! Folks if YOU see this and have a more direct line to the Vagabonde crew, please let them know. ROASTED COCONUT OIL!!! ROASTED COCONUT OIL!!! Good luck! Hope this finds everyone well, safe, happy and sound :)

Wait, you roast coconut oil? Until what end? This is fantastic news
@soulwave7237
@soulwave7237 2 жыл бұрын
@@chrisriehl1696 when we were in Bastimentos, some little, old, Indigenous women visited our rental house. It was like they had telepathy as we were at our wits ends! Luckily my husband's first language is Spanish, so we were able to understand that they had this homemade, ROASTED coconut oil for sale that they made themselves. We were desperate of course (as anyone who has experienced the torment that the no-see-ums can pose!) so we bought a bottle for such a fair price...and I tell you, it worked! Not only that, but we still have some left as we're only 2 ppl travelling periodically. And the remedy makes sense: these bugs are so small, so their probiscus (feeding organ) cannot penetrate the layer of oil when it's on your skin. Of course it won't remedy the buggers on board, but this roasted coconut oil definitely helps to keep them from being able to get a bite out of you And from what I've learned since, perhaps any natural oil on the skin may work, but I think the key to this Indigenous version, is that it's roasted coconut oil. It was a medium brown colour (so not too roasted) and definitely smelled roasted/cooked. For me, Indigenous wisdom is usually best in any particular region, as the people have figured out remedies over millennia. Thanks for your comment! Hopefully this advice helps, not just for the Vagabond crew, but anyone who has ever been plagued by these wee, little pests! 😀

I don't really think there's a better way to raise kids I've seen online. Let me elaborate on this: Sailing and seeing tons of different parts of the world while living off the grid could really only do wonders for the human psyche (no matter the age). Adventures like these while needing little to nothing than their boat out there would surely set quite an example of good living for these kids. Something I wish I had as a child while watching this and quite frankly something I would definetly wish upon my children as well.

Nothing against hunting or fishing or eating animals, but I just wonder if you ever pause to take a moment to acknowledge or respect the life you are taking, not just as an accomplishment, but also for the life it gives you, and the inherent magnificence of the creatures themselves. No judgement, just an observation. I know you guys are sensible, just wondering if you think about it. Those are some pretty magnificent creatures. Cheers from Canada.

Hi, so I’ve watched your KZbin channel almost from the start but clicked away from watching your video’s for quiet awhile as seems to be a massive focus on hunting. I guess I’m on my own moral journey and as I’d never watch a program on land animals being hunted, killed and butchered I now feel the same way towards our amazing sea creatures #Octopusismyteacher. An International hero like David Attenborough would never think to include hunting on his ocean programs and wonder if you have reflected on the focus of the content you choose to put out. Your such huge role models to so many folk and these things have an impact , great power and responsability and all that jazz. Having said all that please don’t think I’m in any way a “hater”, you guys are great and totally agree and admire your sustainable living ethics. You can’t please all the folk all the time, it’s your channel and totally respect your choices. I just thought you would want to know what content doesn’t works for some of your loyal viewers. Huge respect Matt

I respect the fact that they are very selective. They eat mainly a vegetarian diet except in places they are able to find fish and the Bahamas have a healthy fish and lobster population. They never go to the market and buy meat or seafood. I think it is very healthy for them to be eating and hunting in such a thoughtful and sustainable manner. They care very much about the ocean. They know what fish are sustainable. In this video he harvested extra fish for friends and neighbors. This is an exception and I do not think they should be judged. They do not deserve to have to deal with that kind if pressure when they are trying to feed a family. You can go and find many youtubers to go after for their bad practices but the judgment here on This channel is unwarranted in my opinion. This is just my humble opion. I respect vegans and I hope never to be judged on my practices of feeding my family.

People require a source of protein. Yes that can be achieved through non-meat products but it remains the largest source. I am not sure of the Bahamas sustainability but given there are such large fish inshore I fathom it is sustainable. They are sourcing their food from a known location, in a selective manner (not removing all the fish from one spot), that doesn't have a large carbon footprint without endless amounts of packaging and refrigeration. That is something that cannot be achieved by purchasing your food whether you are vegetarian or an omnivore. Also as someone who also spends a large amount of time on/in/under the water, sustainably harvesting like they are I can assure you that the people carrying out this sort of hunting practice are the ones that generally have the greatest passion for preserving the underwater environment for future generations. I am not sure of your diet but if you eat meat of any sort I think you should view and be ok with viewing the killing of animals. Too many people are happy to disconnect from that aspect of their food and what has to occur before it can be eaten. This would help create true awareness and allow people to really question the morality of their everyday diets instead of ignoring the cold hard facts of what is on their plate.

Hi, just to reinforce my post is about “glorifying hunting” and not at all about choices of diet or food sources. Spear fishing is undoubtedly one of the most sustainable ways to source fish, as would getting a bow and arrow and hunting wild deer… I personally wouldn’t choose or enjoy watching either of them. Now seeing someone spend the same amount of time effort, and probably more skill in capturing that fish or animal in a stunning photo or video totally floats my boat. As said this was simply me giving feedback on why I’ve almost completely stopped watching their videos (which I had loved). As content creators I am sure they want to hear from all their subscribers with their spectrum of opinions. If I’m in the minority and most folk want to watch Spear fishing then they will be able to continue including this content. Judging by how hugely successful they are I think I am definitely in the minority 😂
