Hoping the federal government would upgrade the Gelang Patah - Pasir Gudang railway to be used for passenger trains. It would be a great project to increase efficiency and maybe help with the congested Pasir Gudang highway. Thousands of Johoreans would benefit from this

State Govt has sent request ealier this week (Feb 5th) MOT to consider upgrading existing Kempas Baru rail line to Pasir Gudang to cater KTMB Komuter service. There is no rail connection between Gelang Patah to Pasir Gudang. There is however a rail line from Tg Pelepas Port connecting the main KTMB ETS line converging at Senai

Feeling sad and frustrated due to continued delays in the completion of the project 😢 They should have kept the old track operational while building double track adjacent

They are. That's what you are seeing at Kempas Baru here. The old running alongside with the new. Unless you mean just add a new track, then that's not possible because no matter what, the track joints will be different. Also, with dual track also means additional platforms & links at the existing stations, so the stations have to be changed out anyway as most stations were single platforms except Kluang, Gemas & JB Sentral. Also, with the additional track also means signals throughout the whole line have to be updated, so those definitely also need to be changed to include signals for the new track as well as track switching in between. It's not just simply adding another track will do. It doesn't work that way.

Any idea what those building at 9:33 will be? At first i thought it will be some administrative office for KTMB or RAC, but now seeing later again that there's likely some form of trackbed provisions alignment that might branch from one of the new track siding near the entrance of the station's carparks/PUDO area (notice the sudden end of railway wall at 8:12 & 10:10 & the siding which can be clearly seen at 8:33 & 8:58), I'm wondering what else may be coming up there in that building that needed the tracks, unless a separate maintenance & workshop facility for the electric trains? I doubt it as it doesn't make sense with it being on the other side. The huge worksite at 7:29 makes much more sense as the new maintenance & workshop for the electric trains since the concrete structures on that side is clearly for stabling of the new electric trains.

Well, this can act as precursor to HSR. Since it will be running at 140kmh under ETS, which is way faster than the speed of the current conventional diesel trains. So at least hopefully this gets completed first then we can have a better idea of how a HSR between JB & KL will be like, including the ticket price, which will definitely be more expensive than current diesel trains

This Kempas Baru station is the next station after the existing JB Sentral station, which is the building that links the CIQ with malls like CS & Komtar. The building that everyone walks through between the malls & CIQ. That's JB Sentral. And that's how it will connect to Kempas Baru here.

What will happen to the old Kempas Baru station? Will it be demolished? And what will also happen to the old trackbed running alongside the old station? We it be reused for a new set of tracks or will be covered over for development?

I'm not sure of the old tracks at the station itself, but the track merging point at the north of the station will definitely be dismantled as it's going to be replaced by the road access to/from the new station as well as what seems to be new trackbeds for additional track sidings. The old tracks after the new railway bridge south of the station will definitely be dismantled as well. Hope they can at least keep the tracks within the station, as well as the station itself.

Why not complete the tracks between JB Sentral and Gemas and starts operating in early 2024. The rest of the stations can wait! Why the need to wait till mid 2025? New government is getting no better!
@nick_1551
@nick_1551 7 ай бұрын
Because the new tracks still have to go through the new stations, no? Would you endanger the tracks team by having them installing tracks under a structure (& in this case, 8 of them) which are not yet certified as safe & put the track workers all in danger? What if the structure collapse? Also, it's not just the tracks. Look again. Something bigger is still missing. Yes. The signalling & electrification works for both stations & signals. No signals, how do you even safely operate a train service on the new tracks & new stations? Currently based on updates, signalling is only completely installed up to Bekok from Gemas. And signalling installation is under a different team from the tracks installation team. The new tracks have to be installed first then only the new signalling can commence installation. No signals, no train service via the new stations.
@nick_1551
@nick_1551 7 ай бұрын
That said, I think there are certain new stations that can already be opened (or at least partially) as some of these new stations are just next to, or at least a few metres off, the temporary stations. New Stations like Layang-Layang, Rengam, Kluang, Paloh & Bekok trackworks have been long completed &, owing to their close proximity to the temporary stations, they are therefore within range of the temporary signals. Provided that station testing works are complete, they can hopefully open these stations next year, though still in single track alignment as the new stations signals have not been installed, nor are the stations electrified. So they can only open the new stations portion from which the temporary signals are already active. But again, station testing works must be complete first so as to ensure smooth operations.

@@frankiechiuh3401 I don't know why you are using this example, out of all other EDTP projects. The Ipoh - Padang Besar EDTP (including Butterworth section) first started in 2008 & only the new stations started opening, again as a single line train operations from end 2013. All new stations were only fully functional by 2014. That's still 6-8 years at least. If I were you, I'd use the Gemas - Seremban EDTP route instead, where they started construction that same year in 2008 but the new stations started opening (also as single line operations) from 2012, excluding Sungai Gadut & Senawang, which opened even earlier in 2011. But one thing they had in common that you can't compare to this project: they didn't stop work due to a pandemic & even restricted work personnel in the months after. So really to use previous EDTPs as examples in general is actually not wise. Because of the biggest factor at play in this EDTP that none which preceded it (Rawang -Ipoh EDTP due to SARS) ever had. But if you really want to use an example, use Gemas-Seremban EDTP, not Ipoh-Butterworth. And most certainly even not the Rawang -Ipoh EDTP, which was beset by many other problems apart from SARS. 4 years became X2 (8 years) for that one.
