@@PadawanIan Bet your ass Page never thought about all those scales when he recorded it or played later (he almost never did, this is quite rare) ... Lol, myxolydian and all this crap. It was just blues .. did Sumlin or Eddie Taylor play "Phrygian".. sheesh 😂
@tomasvanecek86262 жыл бұрын
You´re a bit overthinking it a bit, arent you ? He´s not mixing anything - he just plays the blues, which is never strictly major or minor.. nor in the scales from a textbook of musical theory.. It just doesnt work that premeditated way.. you bend a string, and you are from Dorian to atonal in a moment 🤣 this dissecting and using a microscope doesnt work for this music
@PadawanIan2 жыл бұрын
@@tomasvanecek8626 he doesn’t consciously do it he just does it because that’s what he feels yes he’s heavily influenced by the blues in everything he plays but he did mix major and minor a lot that’s how he gets the sound we all know and love

The brother drama did them in. Jimmy wanted to start writing new music with them, and Chris Robinson said “No thanks.” Jimmy was so insulted he called management and quit the band. The Tonight Show performance was their last gig and after they Jimmy mysteriously got “back problems” that never appeared before or since, and they called off the tour.

Some call Jimmy a "sloppy" guitar player, but I absolutely love this aspect of his guitar playing, because this sloppiness mean one thing - he doesn't play it safe - just like it was on the record - he improvises instead, he's searching for some ways this song hasn't been played yet and this, for me personally, is exactly what the live music should be all about!

Well if it wasn't for bands like Zep, Grateful Dead and Widespread Panic who covered his tunes and/or used them as a foundation to explore even deeper dimensions of the musical universe then I might not have ever even heard of Holwlin Wolf. They didn't rip him off, they payed homage and shared his gift with the world.
