PEOPLE MENTIONING THE "LOW" SCORE: Kevin Love won with 17 points in 2012, Daequan Cook with 19 in 2009, Dirk with 18 in 2006, Hornacek with 13 in 2000... Craig Hodges has the record for most points in a round, ever, in 1986 (Bird won that contest). Hodges also has the record for most consecutive shots made with 19, in 1991, and Bird is 2nd with 11, in 1986. Larry is also 4th all-time in most points in the final round, with 22. Oh, and players back then didn't grow up with the 3PT line, plus they now have the money-ball rack which allows for more total points. Just this year, only a couple of players reached 20 points WITH the money-ball rack. Go watch the 1986 contest for Bird's best performance, also.

I remember Bird coaching the Pacers in a playoff game against Jordan's Bulls,I believe.Reggie Miller took the last shot,an unbelievable basket he made ,(everybody knew Reggie would take it).the camera showed Larry before,during and after the shot--he never changed expression -.guy had an assassin's mentality,even as a coach...

Stephen Curry?
@christianrobloxer1710 жыл бұрын
Dang dude don't be so harsh, but he was an all star I'm saying. He was in the All Star game I know he isn't comparable to LeBron and Durant, but he is definitely the best on Golden State.
@christianrobloxer1710 жыл бұрын
KryptoChronicutelite Yeah, but defensively his teammates like Iguadala and all them thats where they come in to help him which is what makes Golden State a great team Curry is more than half their offense because they mostly have big men which increases the amount of defense.

afrikan08 yea but you've got to realize that's with the money ball rack so back then getting 17 was actually like getting 20

@JakeStine4 жыл бұрын
@@joehalili8468 First off, shooting 40% from 3pt is pretty good even today. A significant number of Bird's 3's were contested shots and last-second heaves from half court. He only took around 2.5 3pt shots per game for the bulk of his career, and usually one of those was a last second heave to end a quarter, and another was him throwing up some junk with 2 or 3 guys in his face. And his avg was still 40%. By comparison, Lillard avgs 40% today and while he certainly shows his range, he also takes 9 attempts a game and most of them aren't deep or contested. The 43% Lillard shoots when wide open helps offset the 35% he shoots when he's actually somewhat covered, and/or when the clock is running down.

Bird gets calmers the higher the pressure, he literally is worse when there is no pressure and then when he has to make it he pretty much knows hes going to make the shot.

Maybe not the greatest of all time but the best shooter I ever saw all around. Three pointers, left handed hook from the foul line, changing the arc of a shot to keep from blocks when a center was in front of him, I've seen him do it all. Michael Cooper once guarded him so close he was almost in Larry's shorts, and Bird still did an amazing turn around jumper tear drop that swished. Unbelievable.
