Larry did a smart move to seize the word selfish before she could.

@TillTheLightTakesUs3 жыл бұрын
This isn't kindergarten, you don't "seize" words and lock them out. If Cheryl could use selfish right after that, it wouldn't look weird at all. But despite all that I've said, Larry's 100% in the right.
@benajminfelix74493 жыл бұрын
@@TillTheLightTakesUs you misunderstand, he seized it as in utilizing the word and it’s meaning to serve his purpose. Now if the wife wants to use the word she’ll have to be put on the defensive to justify why she’s not selfish, then explain why Larry is acting selfish

That's how I would think too, if my folks barely survived the Holocaust, and many of their loved ones had to be sacrificed so that a few could survive and carry on the race. Especially if the USA is just a place he's at to stay away from the people who want to kill him. And he's more interested in the afterlife than the current here and the now. Yeah, I would talk like that too. It's the prudent course of action when your very survival is a warzone, and nothing can be taken for granted, anti-Semitism is a real treat, and losing a wife because she'd rather stay behind at a charity function she started even though someone went out of her way to break a legally binding silence to warn them of a 90% probability of a terrorist attack in that city. If I were him, I wouldn't even be negotiating like that. No way. And I might just flee the country for a little bit.

@18skeltor5 жыл бұрын
Well, it got a fast laugh out of me too, but when I actually thought about it, Larry is right. Sure, he's being selfish by leaving LA and leaving his wife alone in a possible terrorist attack. What's more selfish is too risk the death of both just so you can do some Public Image benefit. Short term gain. This scene really just encapsulates what makes Larry so much of a unique character. Whereas most people take the obvious truths too seriously, Larry rejects it. And he's willing to argue just for the sake of it. He's the ultimate Devil's Advocate. He's a Jester.
