It's these facts that most ppl don't know much about. It took me an entire 30 yrs to understand. I wasn't taught this in college or high school because the money markets, investments, or even self-employment is part of the curriculum NOT taught to our young adults. If I had at least an overview of these topics, my life would've had a different direction a lot younger than buying my 1st house at 38 in the middle of a housing crisis. I was part of that history. After a home purchase, 2 yrs later, with 2 jobs, I had to sell my 1st home. These lessons come hard and furious for every family just starting out. We need to stop forcing our youth blindly starting life without knowledge of how money really works.

its weird to admit my dad worked for blackrock from early 2002 to about 2016 in a consultancy capacity. He’d recently left goldman sachs and within just 2 years, we owned our home in los altos and come to find out in 2007 he’s purchasing a 2nd home in rye new hampshire and a 3rd in norwich vermont (we currently have 7 properties to our family) he never disclosed how much he made and my sisters & i never questioned, it’s left me puzzled over the years because it wasn’t until very recently i started looking into blackrock and the breath of the company that i realised my dad couldn’t possibly have been making anything less than $5 million a year give or take a mill. from the very onset in 2002

I love the free market. Where i start having a problem is Blackrock using state retirement funds to in essence destroy the state. IE, in Louisiana Blackrock used all the state pension funds to shut down oil and gas which is what people in Louisiana make their money with (the LA state treasure has done an amazing job fighting this and you should look into him). This should be a self correcting issue where all the states pull their retirement funds out of Blackrock. I do think Blackrock is an evil company but at the same time good American people are letting Blackrock use their retirement money to destroy their own country and way of life. IE, allowing Blackrock to buy up all the real estate so their children will never be able to own a home and must rent and be a debt slave for the rest of their lives, again this should be a self correcting issue for an aware investor. Part of this problem is Americans have abdicated their responsibility for investing to people who lie to them and don't have their best interests in mind for their investments (is an 10% return better than an 8% return if your children will have a vastly worse quality of life than the generation prior). I also think that Blackrock should not be able to have an advisor at the white house that talks to the president daily, there should be a public, private, and government separation where they are forced to compete with each other rather than be able to collude with each other. Blaming Larry Fink for being greedy and evil is kind of dumb when it is the virtuous people's responsibility to stop him rather than getting a 2% better return on their investment. But maybe personal responsibility is a hot take.
