I think when you play a game like this for the first time it's nice to go into it feeling like every decision might have an impact :) that's why telltale games were so popular when this came out as it really helped to emerse you in the game. Then people started to realise that choices often don't matter and the charm wore off. But the walking dead is one of the true survivors of that, still a very enjoyable series.
