The thing is, wraps varies from person to person and it has a skill to it. If only US Open was a sleeves only meet...I mean, you can get up to 40kg if you use those 2 metres wraps some people use it and don't walk it out. Sleeves is where it's at. We want to see raw strength with minimal amount of gear. It seems to be the popular opinion I think. I'm expecting a huge total from Yury and Larry at US Open.

Kyle Ruth true but Belkin in the 242 lb weightclass got a total over 2.3k. Belkin without wraps was still able to squat over 800 as well. And he also got the new all time world record for deadlifts and he deadlifted 970 lbs and ALMOST deadlifted over 1,000 lbs as well. Soon, Belkin is going to get a 2.4k total and deadlift over 1,000 lbs in his next meet.

I'm a Yury Belkin fan but I'm not so sure he will get 1000lb at US Open on all kilo plates. He pulled 970lb but on those 50kg bumper plates. It's easier to break off the floor and helps him a lot because he's a sumo puller (sumo the hardest part is to break off the floor). He will pull 1000+ in his lifetime at a meet for sure.
