FCP is really lacking, the ability to customize the captions should've come with the rollout of transcribe to captions. They're really behind.

Andy Isposi: The problem is that captions - by FCC ruling - are required to be formatted by the end user. The FCC mandates that the viewer, not the creator, be able to change the size of the caption, color of the caption, position of the caption and background color behind the caption. That's because captions are designed to aid viewers with sight or hearing problems, which can vary from one use to the next. For this reason, formatting captions makes no sense. This is also why viewers can turn them on or off. If you need captions to look a creation way, you need to create titles - but titles can't be turned off. Larry
