I'm so happy that a guy like Stan is still around, still with-it, and still retains the ability to shape the world he's helped create. Because when he's gone, the world is going to suck a little more. No more was this evident than in 1992, after William Gaines (most famously of Mad Magazine/Tales from the Crypt) died. Like Stan, Bill was a huge personality. And after he died, he left a void that couldn't be filled, and his absence allowed for lesser men to eventually corrode his magazine (by filling it with ads, for example.) These guys are heroes because, despite their fame and their contributions, they've managed to retain their humility -- a quality that seems lacking and even under-valued by most famous people, who seldom even produce anything other than cults of personality. May Stan live forever!
