@Alderak15 жыл бұрын
hayk3000 You definitely have to be smart to get through Berkeley school of music. Music theory classes are mandatory and that is a very complicated subject, especially when one has to apply it to their performance major. Music history classes can be very difficult too. Also, if you’ve ever been in an orchestra or band, the smarter people are usually better and have a higher chair ranking. The fact that Eric got into and then graduated Berkeley means he was most likely better than his peers at the Bass before he entered college. I know and have met dozens of music performance majors and all of them are what I would call “smart”, especially compared to the average person. “Musical talent” of the academic variety requires, among other things, quick thinking, interpretive skills, and good memory or memorization, all of which are part of what defines intelligence.

As annoying as his non-answers and driving a non-joke into the ground is (though, to be fair, taking a scenario that could easily be hilarious or interesting and completely ruining it is part of his meta-humor shtick) he wasn't exactly getting really engaging questions there. Really general stuff that you need to think about for far too long to actually come up with a solid answer, and really not conducive to a good interview, especially with someone like Eric who you really have to engage with on his level. The two were playing a very different ball game and it took them both to find a middle ground to meet at so they weren't both talking at a brick wall.
