Join us at the campfire for my final thoughts on the Lars Fält Knife and a basic field test. The camp we set up today is going to be a summer project and I'll bring updates when I get chance to visit the camp. You can't beat father son time. Apologies for the camera work, I didn't plan this video, but wanted to get it out.

Great video. Thank you. I really like this knife, but it's very expensive compared to joker knives. Knives. I bought my first three joker knives and receive them this week. The best quality knife I've ever seen. Is it really worth buying a castrum?

Great Review and I have to say to Everybody Buy the Dangler it is superb Quality and You will agree as soon as You handle it I bought a black one to go with the Cognac colour and they are great with any of My Knives . And I have Subscribed to this excellent Site as well .

I own this knife and like the blade very much. I like the shape of the handle. Only wish it was slightly longer. I find it a tad short.

I guess it's a personal fit, for me there's plenty of handle but my hands are more on the medium glove size. It's actually a great blade, over the last few years I've come to love it a lot.

I love a happy ending to a story. I like that LF Knife, it looks purposeful, I could imagine Lars Falt using it. Is the woodland you are camping in close to your home? What trees are there, the bark looks a bit like Sycamore as I recall...or perhaps Beech? Don't be shy about being on camera, your content is what matters. Best Wishes WS

Woodsman Spirit Thanks Chris, to be honest I'm not shy just incredible private. I want share with the community but retain my anonymity if there is such a thing anymore. The forest is primarily Spruce, with some birch, pine and fir and the occasional native tree such as beech, maple and oak but they are few. It is a managed forest so I have limited access but found this spot a few months back. In terms of LF there is old video somewhere of him and Ray Mears teaching the Swedish military.

I get your point AOU:)....if it was not for trolls life would be easier. Wilderness pursuits has always been my 'escape' from the chatter of the wider World and to connect with the Creator (Creation). I worked most of my life as a public servant and had high demands on me so the silence and solitude is welcome. Here it is very silent, there is nothing to the back of my property or to one side of it. We have neighbours 400 yards away off the access road, but I hardly ever see them. I am 45kms (30 miles) from the City of Kamloops, we have a business office in the City, I work one or two days a week. The ecosystem up here ids different fro that in the City/Valley as it is not semi arid desert, much higher precipitation therefore a different and more diverse ecosystem, Spruce, Birch, Aspen, Vine Maple, Balsam Fir (aka Noble Fir), Alder some Cedar Cedar 400 metres above my property, nothing in the way of true hardwoods barring the Vine Maple. Plant life is diverse as are animals. I remember some good times with my son in the outdoors, camping, fishing and canoeing. I think I may have seen that old vid of LF and Ray.

Woodsman Spirit actually Lars Fält uses a different knife in reality 😂 it’s quite a strange circumstance that they basically produced a Woodlore knife rather then lars‘s own knife he designed years back

Hello it's still a great knife, I sewed a piece of leather of the same color on the side for a firesteel, I found (for me) that it was missing greetings

So would you go for the Casstrom No. 10 next time? Or the woodsman?
@adventureoutdoorsuk9271

Probably the No.10 it's a very underrated knife I think. I handled it a few times and it feels good in the hand. Although I'm not sure if the curved handle will suit all carving tasks. That said I'm getting on really well with the Lars knife as an all round camp knife.

Hello Which products do you use for the sheath and the dangler please? greetings luigi

Hi Luigi, I use a few different products depending how I am treating the sheath. When I first bought the sheath I used a little neatsfoot oil (saddlery oil) to soften and moisturise the leather. Then I buffed it with Kiwi shoe polish and ever since I've used grasa de Caballo which I got from Verusteleka. It provides heavy waterproofing and protects the leather really well 👌

@@luigifrancotte6560 would you like to see a maintenance video using the products? I haven't been uploading to the channel for some time for various reasons, but I might consider doing a care series if it helps others out.

Thanks for your comment William. I believe the first knife I had either a heat treat fault or steel defect, this can happen. I have seen no other bad reviews of this knife online. I met Casstrom at the bushcraft show and they told me they hadn't had any other returns of this kind. I have used the knife plenty since it was replaced (just last weekend in fact) it has held up perfectly to all camp duties. I am exceptionally happy with this knife and have no problem recommending it as a companion knife, now I have used it for a long period. It is in my opinion, a large woodlore style knife, perhaps a little large for the very finest carving tasks, but the spear point is excellent for notching, bow drill divets and drilling. I am now very very confident in this knife. Oh and it sharpens up very nicely even with a pocket stone. Good Luck.
